Mrs. John Aaro will be hostess
at the next pinochle party Sept.

MEMBERS OF CANAL Court
of the Order of Amaranth held a
potluck hmcheon and work party
at the Holiday Beach clubhouse
Monday. They "are busy preparing
for the bazaar they plan for early
winter.
Mr. and Mrs. Sig Anderaon went
to Centralia Friday last week to
tile home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Germeam They were joined by
Sig's cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Erickson of South San Frandlsco:
and all went out to dinner. ~The
A.ndersons with the Germeaus had
visited at the Erickson home last
Febmmry when they were on a
California trip together
Four days~ of beach life in the
Marysville cabin of a Seattle
daub..ghter; Mrs. Kathryn Germeau,
was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. John
Aaro from Thursday last week un-
til Monday. With son, Johnnie, for
company was Calvin Gustafson of
Hoodsport.
On Sunday Mrs. Aaro'a three
daughters, Mrs. Ge~aeau, and her
h.usband, Mrs. Helen Bloomquist
and Mrs. Joyce McNally, all of
Seattle, spent the day with them
in a pleasant reunion. From near-
by Mission Beach they had another
visitor, Mrs. Margaret Littell,
daughter of an early Canal home-
steader, a Mr. Papst. Papst was
once owner of a large area of prop-
erty in the Hamma Hamma and
Eldon vicinity. When Mrs. Littell
heard that the Aaro faznily was
there, she hastened to pay them
a visit and talk about old Canal
days with John, a pioneer of this
area,
"MRS. N. J. SCEVA returned
from a trip to the San Juan-Is-
lands and Victorial B. C. Thurs-
day night. She accompanied Mrs.
Albert M. Witte of Seattle, sister
of Mrs. Paul Gerkensmeyer. They
spent Tuesday night on Orcas Is-
land, in a resort hotel at Rosario.
That afternoon they had driven
to a Mt. Constitution viewpoint
after the weather had cleared to
afford a good view. 'Wednesday
nightxthey spent in Vi~torta, B.C.,
where they visited the Butchart
Gardens and other attractions.
They found the gardens especially
beautiful at this time of tile year.
They ferried to Port Angeles and
drove down the Canal on their re-
turn trip, and Mrs. Witte went
back to Seattle Thursday night,
IV[r. and Mrs. Gomer Davis of
Portland, Ore., were weekend
guests of the ]elm Robinsons in
their Lilliwaup Creek cabin.
Dr. and Mrs. Mack Knutsen,
son-in-law and daughter of the
Jack Cattos,
came from Tacoma
with their ch'~ldren to spend a
couple of days with them: Friday
night Mrs. Knutsen's approaching
birthday was celebrated with a
birthday cake deesert,:to whicli
nearby reIative s were invited.
Mr. and ~¢[rs. Emmett CmTiger
and small son of Grandvicw came

friends, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Will-
