Simpson Announces
Reorganization of Simpson
Timber Company's industrial
relations department and
establishment of a new wood
products accounting organization
are resulting in promotion and
transfer of a number of local
Simpson people.
John B. Stentz, personnel
manager-Northwest at Shelton
since 1961, is promoted to the
new position of industrial
relations director, lie is
transierring to Simpson
headquarters in Seattle where he
reports to M. L. Munson, vice
president-personnel. Stentz joined
Simpson ;n 1952 as a safety
statistician at Shelton. lie has
handled personnel assignments in
Shelton since 1954.
Stentz now will direct nine
field staff people in personnel and
saf'ety supervisory posts
t hroughout the Company's
operating areas in Washington,
Oregon and ('alifornia.
Phillip G. Morrison, Simpson's
personnel nlanager-Calilornia in
Arcat~, since 1966, is transferred
to Shelton as personnel
administrator responsible for
providing service to all
Washington plywood and door
activities m the Sbelton and
McCleary areas. Morrison, a native
of l;,hna, ioined Simpson in 1952
us a tnmekeeper at the Company's
McCleary plants. From 1956 to
1963 he bandied personnel and
safety supervisory responsibilities
at McCleary and from 1963 -
1966 he was Simpson's personnel
supervisor at Shelton.
Jerry Johnson, personnel
representative at McCleary since
1966, is reassigned to Shelton
where he will handle personnel
activities for Simpson fir and
hemlock lumber and insulating
board operations. Johnson joined
Simpson in 1950 at Everett,
Wash. tie later served in safety
and administration at Seattle and
in Shelton personnel from 1960
to 1966.
Tim E. Smith, placement and
benefits administrator in Seattle
Winners Named
Monday night winners at the
meeting of the Shelton Duplicate
Bridge Club held in the PUD
auditorium were, for
North-South, Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Bennett and Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Quimby.
East-West winners were Vic
King and Norm ttulbert, and Bill
Batchelor and Tuey Schumacher.
Sale Scheduled
A moonlight rummage sale
will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
tomorrow in the Odd Fellows
Hall above the Coast to Coast
Store. The sale is sponsored by
the Ruby Rebekah Lodge No. 75.

representative, is promoted to the
position of California personnel
administrator and located at
Arcata. He joined Simpson in
Shelton personnel in 1965 where
he served until he was named to
the Seattle post in 1968.
Replacing Smith as placement
and benefits administrator in
Seattle is Terry Mullane who has
been in Shelton personnel since
he joined Simpson last year.
Bill James of the Company's
Shelton staff is joining the
industrial relations department in
the new position of security and
fire prevention administrator.
James, a former deputy chief of
the Seattle Fire Department, has
directed fire prevention activities
for Simpson's Shelton industrial
waterfront since he joined the
company in 1968. James now
extends his responsibility for fire
prevention and Company security
to all Simpson operating areas. He
will remain in Shelton.
Simpson's new accounting
organization for wood products is
established under the direction of
Lou Redman, Seattle,
controller-wood products.
Redman, who joined Simpson at
Shelton in 1946 as an accountant
and served as office manager there
from 1948 - 1952, was Simpson's
corporate comptroller in Seattle
from 1962 until the present.
R. C. (Dick) Brewer will
continue to be located in Shelton
in the new position of division
controller for all Company
timberland and lumber operations
including Simpson Timber
Company Limited at Hudson Bay,
Sask. Brewer has been division
comptroller at Shelton since
1960.
Another man in Simpson's
Shelton finance group is named to
the new wood products
accounting staff. He is A1 Edson,
accounting supervisor for
plywood and doors since 1964.
He will remain at Shelton in the
new position of supervisor-
operational accounting for all
plywood operations and McCleary
Door Plant.
Dave Harris, who was on
Simpson's Shelton accounting
staff from 1957 to 1965, is
named supervisor-operational
accounting for research, chemicals
and Fabricated Products. He is
located in Seattle.
Robert A. Turner, Simpson's
log distribution manager in
Shelton since 1964, is reassigned
to the position of accounting
supervisor for Simpson California
timberland and lumber operations
in Arcata. Turner began his
Simpson career at Shelton in
1947 where he was an accountant
from 1951 until 1957 when he
joined the Washington
timberlands division in his present
post.

The Food and Drug
Administration has issued an
urgent warning to the public
which says:
"'Consumers are warned of a
serious mix-up involving VI-JON
HOSPITAL Brand (:astor Oil in
two-ounce bottles. At least one
bottle has been found in the St.
Louis area to contain turpentine
rather than castor oil, and the
possibility exists that other
mislabeled bottles could he in the
hands of consumers.
"'Turpentine, if given to a
child in the place of castor oil,
could prove fatal. Any two-ounce
bottle labeled VI JON
HOSPITAL Brand Castor Oil
should be discarded unless the
consumers can be certain it does
not contain turpentine.'"

of lack of coding on tile bottle, it
is impossible to determine the
exact distribulion of the
suspected lot and that the
warning applies to all constlnlers.
