Durand and Vera Lowe
In the Team Captains' match
play the teams of Robertson and
Godwin and Mohrman and
Sowers won their matches to
move into the semi-final brackets.
Durand Wins
The Bayshore Women's Golf
Club had 11 members out on
August 18 for "Pick Your Own
Handicap," and Hazel Durand
came out the victor.
On August 25, it was "Play
For Fairway Shots" and Mae
Munroe came in with 26 to gain
the winning ball. Fifteen gals
turned out.
The semifinals were played in
the summer tournament. The two
matches were Helen Rice vs.
Dora Wagner, and Mae Munroe vs.
Doris Christey. The winners, Dora
Wagner and Doris Christey,
played September 1 for the
championship. The Journal has no
results of that match yet. A new
tourney will start next week.

Racers from Port Angeles to
Portland were on hand Sunday,
August 23, at the Grays Harbor
Fairgrounds, for races sponsored
by the Evergreen Racing
Association.
The most sought after trophy
of the racing season, which lasts
from May through September,
was the prize they were after. It is
the Silnpson Cup, donated by the
Simpson Timber Company.
Two classes competed for
trophies, semi-modified and
jalopy. The track is one half mile
clay oval. The stands were filled
to their 2.000 capacity to watch
this race.
The jalopy class was won by
Walt Tyynismaa, who was driving
car owned and built by Jack
Davidson, and sponsored by Bob
Kimbel Construction.
Davidson designed and
modified a slant six engine that
powers the auto.
