' Elizabeth Bennett, op- erational manager of the RV park, invites everyone to at- tend the third annual art and music fair from 9 a.m. to 5 pm. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 pm. The event began when Bennett decided to put her skills as an events coordina- tor to use and promote the variety of arts she’s loved all her life. “I grew up among people of the land who are artists, and gave many bushels of food from our gardens to our neighbors, and wanted to reach out and make a differ— ence with all- artists,” Ben- nett said. Back to work, then.” Because “work” in Boseman’s case, was making movies, and not just any movies, but a string of nearly back-to- back blockbusters. ' He was the sole redeeming virtue of once—talented director Alex Proyas’ galactic-level misfire “Gods of Egypt” in 2016. In crime thrillers both middling (2016’s “Message from the King” and 2019’s “21 Bridges”) and excellent (2020’s “Da 5 Bloods” bv Spike Lee. available now on Netflix), Chadwick Boseman stepped into Denzel Wash- ington’s shoes as a thoughtful-yet- driven man of action like the template had been made for him. He achieved three-peat success in biopics of historically significant Afri- can-Americans in 2017’s “Marshall,” adding to his earnest depiction of Jackie Robinson’s quietly persevering heroism and his nuanced portrait of the morally mercurial James Brown, in what “Odyssey” translator Emily Wilson would refer to as “a compli- cated man.” He captured the prin- cipled intellect and diligence of future US. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, back when he was a young NAACP lawyer. Boseman was so prolific, he not onlv completed 10 films from 2016 to KYLINE 2020, while fighting cancer, but the last one of those films, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” has yet to be released, and another film in pre-production, “Yasuke,” will have to recast its lead actor now that he’s gone. ~ And the big one: Boseman played the Marvel Comics superhero the Black Panther, aka King T’Challa of the fictional African nation of Wakan- da, in four Marvel Cinematic Uni- ' verse films — 2016’s “Captain Ameri- ca: Civil War,” 2018’s “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” and 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” -— one “Saturday Night Live” “Black Jeop- ardy” skit that manages to be both absolutely hilarious and completely in character, and an episode of the see KING. oaoe A—26 182 S.E.
