bituaries Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020 — Shelton-Mason County Journal Page O Joy M. Farrell 1931-2020 Joy M. Farrell (J akey) died from complications due to Alzheimer’s and dementia on August 24, ' 2020, age 89, while residing at the Beehive Re— . tirement and Assisted Living Community in MC- 1 Cleary, WA. She was born June 7, 1931 in Lew- iston, ID. Joy spent her younger years in Asotin : and Yakima, WA before moving to the Normandy Park, WA area. She graduated from Highline High School in 1949 where her father also taught. In the 1990’s she moved to Montesano, WA from Morton, WA to be near her daughters and grandchildren. Joy is survived by three of her children, Can- dace Cahill, Brennan Cahill and Angela Burris (Hubbard), 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grand- , children and former husband Robert (Bob) Hub- bard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Marie Jakey (Hornibrook), brother, Dr. Lauren J akey, her two sons Michael and Timothy Cahill, and two former husbands, William E. Cahill and Richard J. Farrell. Joy was passionate about music and came from a family of gifted musi— , cians and music teachers. She gained notoriety as a flautist while also play- ing the piccolo, cello and piano. Joy instructed students in both the piano and the flute. She attended Eastern Washington University, where she met her first husband William (Bill). She trained as a massage therapist and worked in administration for many years at Boeing in Renton before retiring. For her 50th birthday she traveled to Nepal on a trek with a Boeing travel group. Joy , was a proud member of The Elks National Band, Aberdeen #593, and was the - first female member of the band. She enjoyed performing at the many Elks 5 events, including the annual Tom & Jerry party on Thanksgiving. The family is planning a virtual memorial to be scheduled at a later date» In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Joy’s name. Marianne Daurehoj Fosbre Marianne Daurehoj Fosbre passed away peacefully in her Shelton. home i , August 23rd, 2020. Growing up in Copenhagen, Denmark, Marianne loved going to the Tivoli ‘ gardens and visiting the Danish farms and countryside. She moved with her mother Annalise to Olympia in 1968, and worked as a Registered Nurse, a Business Owner, and an Investor. Marianne enjoyed her pets, creating art, and tending to her beautiful gardens throughout her life. She is survived by her two sons, Adam and Noah, and long time partner, » Alex. . The family will behaving a small and private celebration of life. Michael Gordon Woods Michael Gordon Woods, was born in Port Or- chard, Washington on November 3, 1940, passed " away on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at his home ‘ in Ocean Shores, Washington, with his loving wife , at his side. He was 79. Mike was raised in Pacific Beach and Bremer- , ton, Washington by his loving parents John and Ruth (Swanson) Woods. He graduated in 1959 from East High School in Bremerton and joined the Army. He received an honorable discharge and : returned to Washington. On June 2, 1983, Mike married Jeanette (Long) , Woods in Steilacoom, Washington. They were both employed by the Washington State Department of Corrections, working in Shelton, at McNeil Island and Monroe, Washington. When Mike retired in 1992 the couple moved to Ocean Shores, Washington where Jeanette still ’ resides. Mike loved the game of golf and spent many hours playing before and after , he retired. He was so excited when he made a hole-in-one, at Ocean Shores Golf Course, hole #11, on September 6, 1994. Mike also loved baseball and football. As a couple they participated with a softball team comprised of sev— ' ' eral correctional staff. Mike was coach and Jeanette was scorekeeper. Mike is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jeanette Woods of Ocean Shores. f : He has a daughter, Bonnie (Wayne) Young of Lacey, Washington and a son, . Michael (Cheryl) Woods of Shelton, Washington. He has two grandchil- dren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Woods and ' ; siblings, John Woods, Alton “Skip” Woods, Jean Landeck and Evelyn Dough- J erty.
