DATED: September 5, 1978. /s/Jack Hanemann, Jr. :' " JACKW. HANEMANN;. JR. of WHITEHOUSE AND HANEMANN Attorneys for Estate 9/7-1t Comments given on school School is important both to you and to your children says Mason County's extension agent, Ruth VanDeRiet. Talk to your children and let them know you're interested in how they are doing. However, "talking to them" does not mean "putting on the pressure." Let them know you love them no matter how they're doing in school. Next to you, the teacher is apt to be the most important person in a youngster's life. Don't compete with teachers; cooperate. Make it a point to know the teachers; make it a point to f'md out how you can help at home to add to the learning. Know how much homework is expected; provide a quiet, well-lighted spot for children to use to do the homework. Check on school supplies frequently enough that you won't be caught short one morning between breakfast and school with a plaintive plea, "I don't have any paper or pencils, or a clean pair of gym shorts." If a crisis comes up at home, it's inevitably going to affect your children at school as well as at home. Let the teachers know about the situation; so they can help. You, your children and their teachers are essentially co-workers in the job of learning. To get the job done, everybody needs to cooperate, reminds Mrs. VanDeRiet.
