‘iclbove all else, guard your heart, for everything
you do flows from it.”
hat do YOU think that means?
I have found that, when making a
stand for what I personally know is right,
others will continually tempt me to give
in. When I hear things like, “You think about God all the
time, it’s okay to just have fun and not think about God
stuff sometimes,” I have to “guard my heart.” If Jesus can’t
come with you, where you are going, you have no business ’
going there, right? 'lhat applies to me too.
I am not saying I expect everyone else in the world to
think about Jesus 24/7, but I know, if] don’t, temptation
will slip into the cracks of the time span I “forget about
Him for awhile." If you’re not “guarding your post” you are
vulnerable to attack.
THAT is on OUR side. What about Jesus? Would we
want Him to say, “Oh, I’m going to just put Theresa out of
my mind for awhile, and go do something for me. She can
get by without Me until I think about her again"?
God forbid! He NEVER stops thinking about any of us,
at any time. He answers prayers 24/7, and never sleeps. He
knows our needs before we even ask, and has a personal
interest vested in ALL of us.
When I posed that question to myself, I found I wanted
to think about Jesus all the time. Certainly some situations
—Pr0verbs 4:23 NI
involve me at work. My boss would fire me if that’s all I
did. You have to use common sense. lol...but I like to go
through my day, talking and praying in my head, while I
am on hold. If a potential, or existing, clienttells me ofa
tragedy, or a loss, I can say, “I don’t know ifyou believe in
God but, if it’s all right I’d like to keep you in my prayers.”
9 out of 10 enthusiastically say, “Yes, please! Thank you!”
So we, as human beings, can TRAIN ourselves to think
on heavenly things, and break the habit of thinking our
earthly pleasures are somehow more important: ‘1
Philippians 4:6-7, “Be careful for nothing; but in
everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,
let your requests be made to God.”
Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world;
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that
you may prove what is the good, and acceptable, and
perfect will of God.”
Of course, my favorite: Matthew 10:16, “Behold, I send
you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye, therefore,
wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”
There are SO MANY MORE I could share, but maybe
some of you will share some.
We CAN do this, you guys! Where our hearts are, there
our treasure is also, so where is YOUR treasure?
