Lunch

the new plan, elementary
lunches will increase by
five cents to $2.30 and sec-
ondary and adult lunches
will increase by 10 cents to
$2.60 and $3.10 respective-
ly. Trogstad predicted the
increases should raise be-
tween $3,500 and $4,500 for
the lunch program.
The increases will not af-
fect the 2,338 SSD students
on free and reduced lunches,
Trogstad said.
Massie said the district
didn't have much choice in
the matter.
"This is coming straight
from the state," he said.
"The state did shift a lot of
the burden to the federal
government ... it's being
passed on to school districts
to make up the difference."
North Mason School Dis-
trict's lunch prices are al-
ready well above the weight-
ed average described in
Trogstad's memo. Southside
School District contracts
with Shelton for lunches
and will have similar prices.

medical marijuana Tuesday.

legal under senate bill 5073.
"We are a creed of people that come for-
ward as a patient base we're trying to
be legal," Kent said. "We have become the
victim of crime because we have come out
it's no easy job out here."
The crime Kent described is one way
the county justifies the six-month mora-
torium.
"I still have some real questions about
should ... these collective gardens be lo-
cated in commercial areas or not? Should
they be located in a private area in a
home? What should their hours of opera-
tion be? Should they be located within
school zones?" Sheldon said. "With the
moratorium in effect I think we can start
in these zoning questions."
Commissioner Lynda Ring Erickson
voiced some reservations about the mora-
torium but voted to support it.
"Had I been here on July 19 I probably
would not have voted in favor of the mora-
torium," she said. "I think it is a zoning is-
sue ... I want to make sure we don't make
a quick and foolish decision."
