The open house is part of information gathering ef- forts by a community advisory com- mittee appointed by Mason County Commissioners to consider whether to increase the sales tax one-tenth of 1 percent to enhance prevention, diversion and treatment services for people with mental illness or addic- tions. Shelton diabetes support group offered Individuals with diabetes can soon learn more about lab tests and how they can improve their results. "Diabetes, Labs & You" will be the subject at MGH's next Shelton Dia- betes Support Group meeting from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 in the Ellinor Room at the Hospital. Kimberly Elliott, DO, Ph.D. of Mason General Hospital Shelton Family Medicine will give the in- side scoop on lab tests such as blood-glucose, alc, vitamin D, lip- ids, BUN, creatinine and GFR. She will explain the significance of each test for those with diabetes and how the condition can be managed to improve test results and move to- ward normal levels. There will also be time set aside for questions and answers. The MGH Diabetes Support Group, affiliated with the American Diabetes Association, meets at the hospital every third Thursday of the month from September to June. It is free and open o people with type 1 and 2 diabetes, their friends and family.
