Audrey "June" West, a lifelong
resident of the East Satsop Valley
and former Mary M. Knight School
bus driver, died of complications
of cardiopulmo-
nary disease on
Sunday, Sep-
tember 2, at her
hoine. She was
75.
She was born
on November 4,
1931 in Elma to
Lon and Alice
(Robinson) Bai-
ley.
She married
Paul G. West on
August 20, 1948 June West
at Workman
Creek.
She drove a school bus for the
Mary M. Knight School District
from September 13, 1978 until her
retirement on December 19, 2003.
Her family said she was a tal-
ented, self-taught cake maker.
Surviving are husband Paul G.
West of Mason County; sons Guy
P. West of Mason County and John
E. West and wife Terra of Olym-
pia; daughters Cathy D. Bour-
get of Austin, Texas, and Tammy
Hinkkanen and husband Ray of
Elma; grandchildren Regina Pi-
azza and husband Thomas of San
Antonio, Texas, Krista Miller and
husband Jeremy of Montesano,
Albert Pritz and wife Crystal of
Florida and Staff Sergeant Jacob
P. Hinkkanen, currently in Iraq,
and wife Samantha of Fort Rich-
ardson, Alaska; special friend and
former bus rider Jessica Smith of
Aberdeen; and eight great-grand-
children.
A memorial service will be held
in December or January.

Zane Alan Dick
Zane Alan Dick, a former Shel-
ton resident, died of cancer on Sun-
day, September 2, at his home in
Olympia. He was 85 and had lived
in Shelton more than 25 years.
He was born on June 16, 1922
in Methow to Conda and Blanche
(Orletla) Dick. He attended schools
in Entiat and graduated from High-
line High School in Burien.
He married Levadna Nyrine May
on March 15, 1951. She preceded
him in death in December 2006.
Mr. Dick served in the Merchant
Marine during World War II and
traveled extensively around the
world while aboard ships. He then
spent more than 30 years as a mer-
chant seaman.
He was also employed by the
Berg Mine and packed supplies
for the miners' use near Wrangell,
Alaska. He then worked at Simp-
son Timber Company and retired
from there.
His hobbies included hiking,
hunting, fishing and lots of camp-
ing.
Surviving are daughter Nancy
Kelly and son-in-law Don Kelly of
Olympia; sons Dennis A. Dick of
Chehalis, Kelly Z. Dick of McCleary
and Gale R. Dick of Harrington;
brother Maurice Dick of Seattle;
grandchildren Zane Kelly, Jason
and Jody Dick, Michelle Smith,
Joseph Dean, Patrice Jeffries and
Travis Warner and eight great-
grandchildren.

in grocery mar-
keting until her
retirement due
to illness. She
enjoyed camp-
ing, traveling, !

ployee Jolene Bevis died of natural
causes on Saturday, September 1,
in Salem, Oregon.
Mrs. Bevis
was 78 and had
been an Everett
resident for the
past two years.
She worked
at Simpson Tim-
ber Company
in Shelton as a
clerk-telephone
operator and re-
tired in 1985.
She was born
on December 8,
1928 in Corn- JoleneBevls
merce, Oklahoma, to Walter and
Corda (Smith) Wells.
She married George Bevis on
September 9, 1950 in Shelton. Mr.
Bevis preceded her in death in
1996.
Survivors include son Mike
Bevis and wife Robin of Everett;
daughters Linda McMillin and
' husband Pete of McCleary and
Chris Christensen and husband
Gary of Salem; four grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on
Friday, September 7, at Hope Cha-
pel in Shelton. Pastor Joe Beard
officiated. Burial was at the Ma-
sonic Cemetery in Elma.

James Anderson
Dr. James Lewis Anderson, a
physician who practiced in Wash-
ington and Oregon during his
medical career, died of heart-re-
lated causes on
Wednesday, Sep-
tember 5, at his
home in Union.
He was 77
and had lived
in Union for 12
years.
He was born
on April 16, 1930
in Marquette,
Kansas, to Rue-
ben and Jose-
phine (Hall) An-
derson.
He graduated James
from the Univer- Anderson
sity of Washington Medical School
in Seattle in 1960 and practiced in
Odessa, Seattle and Hillsboro, Or-
egon.
He served in the Navy for five
years.
He met Patricia Ann Garrett in
high school in Kansas. They found
each other again later in Miami,
Florida, while Mr. Anderson was in
the Navy and were married in 1952
in Coral Gables, Florida.
The couple moved to Mason
County in 1995.
Dr. Anderson was a family physi-
cian. He enjoyed carpentry, garden-
ing, classical music and traveling,
especially to the ocean.
He was preceded in death by his
wife in 2004. Also preceding him in
death were his parents, brothers
Frederick Anderson and John An-
derson and his sister Rosalee Goe-
bel.
Surviving are daughters Mari-
lyn Burt and husband Jim, Julie
Ruef and husband Jim and Susan
Fagan, all of Seattle; grandchildren
Aaron and Ryan Burt, Nick and
Morgan Fagan and Sadie Ruef, all
of Seattle; sister Arlyne Loacker of
Seattle; and brother Edwin Ander-
son of Portland, Oregon.
A memorial service for Dr. An-
derson has been scheduled for 1
p.m. on Saturday, September 15,
at Hope Chapel, 421 West E Street
in Shelton. Pastor Terry Oliver will
officiate.

Keith Allen Fagergren, who lived
on and off in Shelton for 39 years,
died of a stroke on Monday, July
30, in San Diego,
California. He
was 39.
He was born
on October 2,
1967 in Shelton
to Eric Fagergren
and Janice (Jen-
kins) Cullens.
He attended
Shelton High
School and re-
ceived a gen-
eral educational
development
(GED) certificate Keith
in 1987. Fagergren
Mr. Fagergren
was divorced and was employed in
the shellfish industry.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and
skeet-shooting as well as reading
and cooking.
He was preceded in death by his
mother and grandmothers Evelyn
Fagergren and Ann Jenkins.
Surviving are the following rela-
tives, all residents of Shelton: his
father Eric Fagergren; stepmother
Pat Fagergren; stepfather Robert
Cullens; daughter Felisha Sisson;
brother Jon Fagergren; sisters
Jessica Jorgensen, Bobbi Fisk and
Nikki Cullens; grandson Kaleb Sis-
son; and numerous aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces and nephews.

Paul E. Eveleth
Shelton resident Paul Edwin
Eveleth, an outstanding athlete
as a youngster, a Vietnam veteran
and a horse lover, died of cancer
on August 30.
He was 62.
He was born
in Shelton in
June 1945 and
spent his youth
and school years
on the family
farm along Clo-
quallum Creek
west of Buck
Prairie. He at-
tended school
in Elma and let-
tered in football,
basketball and Paul E.
baseball in each Eveleth
of his high-school years.
He was a four-year member of
the Lettermen's Club and received
the Coaches Award in football as
a senior. He completed high school
in 1963, then attended Grays Har-
bor Junior College where he was a
varsity basketball player.
While in college, he joined the
Naval Reserve submarine unit in
Tacoma. In 1965 he entered active
duty and served for two years as
a torpedoman aboard the diesel-
electric submarine USS Gudgeon
out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He
qualified to wear the insignia of a
submariner, earned the National
Defense Service Medal and the
Vietnam Service Medal with one
bronze star. He was honorably
discharged as a third-class petty
officer.
He worked as a logger for a
short time, then took up carpen-
try, a trade he followed until re-
tirement.
Mr. Eveteth was a member of
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
5564 in McCleary, where he served
in all capacities, including post
commander for several years.
In April, 1972 he married Sheri
James of McCleary. Their mar-
riage ended in divorce and he
never remarried. As a bachelor, he
enjoyed a special place in the ex-
tended Eveleth family. He never
missed a family gathering or an
evening out with his brothers and
their wives, especially if food was
involved.
He will be remembered primar-
ily for his interest and love of hors-
es, his family said. He rode and
packed with horses and ardently
supported anyone who wished to
ride. He promoted the U.S. Bureau
of Land Management wild horse
