That's all-league se- nior Kyle Burbridge (32) making a one-handed reception in the nearmost inset en route to his 226-yard multipurpose offensive production, and celebrating a no-gain defensive stuff right above him are teammates Robert Moliga (59) and Kevin Eichhorn (11). Alas, junior veteran Eich- horn later sustained a fractured femur and, though spared much worse by dint of a medical miracle of sorts, will be lost for the season. The Climbers weathered Renton's first-half display of speed and cruised to a 41-7 win. Soccer's Climber girls: Their lone loss? Blood loss Bloodied but not defeated, soc- cer's Climber varsity girls got off to an eventful if not altogether triumphant start last week, tying Black Hills and Tumwater 1-1 in nonleague action that wound up with two girls in the hospital. "It was just kind of a freak thing, but it was unintentional," says Climber head coach Brett Bartlett, characterizing the emo- tional culmination of Thursday's Tumwater donnybrook, which saw sophomore veteran Megan Lund of the Climbers get cut to the bone in the process of knocking two teeth out of the mouth of a Tumwater defender. "The girl had a hold of Meg's arm, and the kid fouled her," says Bartlett. "And Meg was fightin' to get free, and her arm came up - right into the kid's front teeth. "And, you know, little skinny Megan: all arms and elbows and stuff like that. And it cut her el- bow all the way to the bone; you can actually see the teeth marks from the two front teeth in her (Please turn to page 22.)
