Empty Bowls event
slated for Friday at
Methodist church
An Empty Bowls event will be
held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday,
September 14, at the North Mason
United Methodist Church, located
at 21450 State Route 3 in Belfair.
Local potters have created and
donated ceramic bowls that will
be passed out during the event to
serve as a reminder that there are
always "empty bowls" in the world.
There is a minimum suggested do-
nation of $10 and all proceeds will
be used to fight hunger locally.
Funds generated will be used to
provide fresh fruits and vegetables
to the North Mason Food Bank.
Sheriff's office is in
need of substation
volunteers in Belfair
The Mason County Sheriffs Of-
fice is looking for retired individu-
als who are community-minded
and looking for volunteer oppor-
tunities. Volunteers will assist
in fingerprinting, report writing,
permit issuance and public aware-
ness programs. A 12-hour training
program is required and provided
at the Belfair substation, where
volunteers will spend tbur hours
per week.
Volunteer application packets
may be obtained by contacting
Chief Civil Deputy Jan Alvord at
275-4467, Extension 316, or via
e-mail at jalvord@so.co.mason.
wa.us. Interested volunteers may
also stop by the substation, located
at 23910 NE State Route 3, to pick
up the packets.
