Journal photo by Justin Johnson BRIEFS Nonprofit seeks help aiding homeless, low-income Shelton-based nonprofit Crazy Love Ministries seeks volunteers and dona- tions for its Mason County Warming Center at West Railroad Avenue and First Street to help homeless persons and low—income families in the Shel- ton area. The center serves breakfasts three days a week and lunch on Sundays. The nonprofit also offers sack lunches, beverages to go, and food boxes. It also distributes food to other local nonprof- it groups. Clothing, toiletries, camping sup- plies and other items are provided when available. Laundry services are available by sign—up and are first come, first serve. Crazy Love Ministries is raising money to buy a computer, phone 'and internet service so patrons can keep in touch with agencies such as the state Department of Safety and Health Ser- vices, the state Department of Licens— ing and Supplemental Security In— come and to search for jobs. The group also wants to expand its operations to seven days a week before the winter cold comes. Donations can be sent to Crazy Love Ministries, PO. Bikers for Babies raises money for Mason General Motorcycle riders are welcome to join the inaugural Bikers for Babies fundraiser, for the Mason General Foundation, staged on Saturday with the Indian Motorcycle Riders Group of Bremerton, “Indian -Motorcycle of Bremerton and Brothers Powersports. The route starts and ends at Bremerton Motorsports Park and Winds through Mason County. The procession will pass Mason General Hospital. Social distancing and face masks are required. The event raises 'money for the Birth Center and Labor and Delivery Unit at Mason General Hospital in Shelton to buy a.fetal heartbeat telem- etry unit. Car parade, luminaria replaces Relay for Life The coronavirus has shelved the an— nual Shelton Relay for Life fundrais- er to battle cancer, but the nonprofit group is planning a car parade and luminaria on Sept. 26 in downtown Shelton. Everyone is invited to add their car, truck, vintage automobile, fire truck, police car and emergency vehicles to the parade, with. participants gath- ering in front of the Mason County Courthouse at 11:30 a.m. The parade will begin at noon, and wind through town for 30 to 45 minutes. . Organizers plan to host a walk- through or drive-by luminaria celebra- tion around the courthouse after the parade. Attendees can buy a luminaria bag in the memory of friends and fami- ly members who have died from cancer or are surviving the disease. On May 30, a handful of members of the Shelton Relay for Life team made what turned out to be a trial run as Central Mas‘on Fire & EMT led a small car parade around town.
