For the third straight year, the
Rest-A—While RV Park near Hood-
sport hosted an art and music fair
where attendees from throughout
Western Washington spent Labor Day
weekend checking out the creations
of regiOnal talents, all while event or-
anizers sou ht to ensure eve one’s

Elizabeth Bennett, operational
manager of the Rest—A-While RV»
Park, was not only kept busy by fair-
goers last weekend, but also by holi—
day traffic at her establishment” at
27001 US. Highway 101.
Bennett noted the fair followed the
same guidelines as gatherings such as
farmers markets by enforcing distanc-
ing rules and monitoring crowd size to
ensure it didn’t become too large. “We
had so many bursts of special attend-
ees, families and individuals,” Ben-
nett said. .,
“Sometimes it seemed like 20 or
30 at a time, then a family here and
there, along with kids getting ice
cream, dads sitting down, for healthy
sandwiches, and moms buying jewelry
and artwork. It was a sweet, graceful
flow.” '
Attendees told Bennett they’d
come from Belfair, Olympia, Shelton
-— even Bellingham -— after reading
about the event in the Shelton-Mason
County Journal.
Counter to previous years, Bennett
said that Sunday generated the fair’s
highest revenues.
“The vendors said that by the time
customers read the newspaper, or
came by on Saturday, they needed
more time to Window-shop before they

came back and made their purchases
on Sunday,” Bennett said;
Bennett noted that outdoor writer
Mark Woytowich took the time to sign
his books, which proved popular with
both attendees and fellow vendors,
along with George Stenberg’s photog-
raphy.
“We had people enjoying the live
jazz music by ‘Cousin Vinnie’ Ander-
son, and even guests at our RV park
said it was so pleasant to chat with
the vendors, and find all'these works
of art and other treasures,” Bennett

on works from master artists.”
Bennett expressed her gratitude to
the artists, other vendors, visitors and
the surrounding community for their
support of both the fair and the ac-
companying fundraiser for the Hood!
sport Food Bank ‘
“From last month and this month,
the food bank has made $1,000, and .-
the kids in the park made a nice
amount aswell,” said Bennett, not-
ing that a portion of the proceeds also
went to children in need at her RV

She added, “The whole weekend,
the people who showed up said it was
just refreshing to see such beautiful
artwork: The vendors wanted to stay
longer that Sunday, but finally had to
close down and pack up.”
Bennett noted the RV park’s man-
agement was given homemade apple
pie and ice cream as a thank you, and
while this year’s art and music fair is
over, she said the Rest-A-While RV
Park remains ready for those who
swing by Hoodsport.
