Marvin Anstey Marvin John (Marv) Anstey, 91, of Shelton died on Sept. 14, 2012. He was born on May 12, 1921, in Torrington, Wyo., to John and Grace Anstey. In 1939, he joined the Wyoming National Guard and in 1940 he was trans- ferred to ~Ft. Lewis. While sta- tioned in Ft. Lewis he met and fell in love with Norma Brassfield Marvin of Shelton. Anstey They were married in 1942. Marv was a member of the U.S. Army Sixth Rang- ers and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He returned to Shelton in 1946 as a decorated combat veteran and sergeant major. He worked for ITT Rayo- nier for 37 years, retiring with Norma in 1983. His retirement years were filled with golf, travel, family, friends and laughter, his family shared. As an active community member and volunteer, he was a member of the Ameri- can Legion, VFW, 40 et 8, Elks, Kiwanis and other ser- vice organizations. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Norma; sons Steve (Helen) of Selah and Tim (Shawn) of Union; grandsons Tim (Gina), Jon (Aria) and Jeff; and great- grandchildren Jack, Elise, Hans and Finn. A memorial service is scheduled from 2 p.m. on Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, 1212 Connecticut St., Shelton. A private fam- ily funeral with military honors will also take place. In lieu of flowers, dona- tions can be made to your favorite charity in Antsey's name. Arrangements are by McComb Funeral Home of Shelton. Lyle Brandt Lyle Dennis Brandt, 90, of Shelton, died on Sept. 13, 2012, at Mason General Hospital. He was born on March 22, 1922, in Gate City to Charles E. and Minnie Church) Brandt. He attended school in Oakville ~until the eighth grade be- fore going to work for a s~ock breeder and even- tually Lyle becoming Brandt a logger along with his broth- ers. In October 1942, he en- listed in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in World War II. He was a Marine Raider -- a group of marines who served on the front lines of the South Pacific. He lost both legs below the knees in Okinawa. Upon returning to the states, he married Bernice Schey on Jan. 1, 1946, in Rochester at the family home. The two had met on a blind date before he enlisted. He went on to work for the Washington State Pa- trol in Chehalis as a radio dispatcher, retiring in 1967. Upon retiring, he began re- modeling and building their home at Phillips Lake. He enjoyed gardening, wa- ter skiing, hunting, motor- cycling in the backcountry, reading and traveling to the Raiders reunions. He also enjoyed cooking and spend- ing time with his family. He is survived by his wife; daughters Jeannie (Jimmie) Brett of Tacoma and Sharon (Tom) Roof of Shelton; son Marvin (Karen) Brandt of Gig Harbor; sister Dorothy (Dennis) Martin of Centralia; seven grandchil- dren, eight great-grandchil- dren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A private family service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the family home. Arrangements are by McComb Funeral Home of Shelton. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mccombfh.com. Lloyd Howell Lloyd R. Howell, 72, died Sept. 9, 2012 in Shelton. He was born on Nov. 14, 1939, in Oroville, Calif., to William and Amelia (Rob- sin) Howell. He moved to the Olympia area in 1940, where he went to school and worked. He met and married Jean Evans in 1970. The couple moved to the Shelton area in 1997, where he worked at Mary's River Lumber as a saw filer and drove big rigs for 10 years. He was a bass fisherman and on the lake was where the couple felt happiest, his family shared, adding that he enjoyed music and the bass. He is survived by his wife; sons Darren Evans of Shelton and William Howell of Olympia; sisters Burt James, Billie gnyder, Shirley Wildowner, Mary Rolly, Amelia Neese, Jackie Johnson and Melba Lacy; grandchildren Andrea Mor- gan of Chehalis, Darren Evans Jr., Stephanie Evans of Shelton, Amanda Lee of Shelton; Kodyak Howell of Olympia and Holly Allen of Olympia; step-grandchildren Brandon, Joshua, Rashelle Jaquez and seven great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Delo- res Wolfe and granddaugh- ter Rose Paul. A celebration of life took place Saturday at his son William Howell's home, 2635 Timber Court S.E., Olympia. He was born in San Francisco on Oct. 9, 1942, to Clifford and Virginia (Van- Buren) MarMmrt. He and his wife Teddy met in Rota, Spain, and were married on Aug. 26, 1976, in Virginia Beach, Va. Neal was a 30-year Navy Veteran. His military hon- ors included three Navy Achievement Medals, Navy Unit Citation, four Navy "E" Ribbons, six Good Conduct Medals, two National De- fense Service Medals, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Command Senior Chief Pin. In continuation of a life- time of service to others, he left his body to the North West Bioskills Education and Surgical Training School. After cremation his re- mains will be taken aboard a U.S. Navy ship and wit, h full military honors will be scattered at sea. Neal is survived by Iris wife, daughter Lisa (K]ddo) and three grandchildren, Jayson, Jessica and Jenna of Pearland, Texas. LeRoy White LeRoy White, 9.'3, died Aug. 28, 2012, in ~Weiser, Idaho, with his wife and two daughters by his side. He was born on Sept. 13, 1918, in Selling, Okla., and moved to Shelton during the depression. He met his wife, Irene, at a roller skating rink in Shelton. They were married July 20, 1940. Delores Spargur Delores Irene Spargur, 50, died on Sept. 10, 2012, at Capital Medical Center in Olympia. She was born on Oct. 28, 1961, in Aberdeen to Wood- ie L. and Betty (Harrison) Mallow. She moved to Shel- ton in 1996 afLer spending a short time in Portland, Ore. She attended Montesano High School. She met her companion Don Demmon on a blind date on Valentine's Day in 199'7.
