Motorcycle rider
injured on state
Route 106 .
A 56-year—old Eugene, Oregon,
man was injured while riding a mo-
torcycle in a two-vehicle accident
on state Route 106 near Belfair on
Monday. , ‘
According to a Washington State
Patrol news release, the motorcycle
was eastbound when a 76-year-old
Belfair man turned left in front of
the motorcycle, causing the motorcy-
cle rider to be launched off the bike
and land in a ditch.
The rider was airlifted to Harbor-
View Medical Center.
The Belfair man was cited for fail-
ure to yield. He was not injured.

Central Mason Fire & EMS extin-
guished a structure fire on San J oa-
quin Avenue on Sunday morning.
According to a news release,
smoke and a crackling Sound com-
ing from a residence was reported at
11:16 a.m. The residence was heavily
fortified. Crews forced their way in
and limited the fire to the basement.
The fire was stopped in its early
stage and had minimal fire dam-
age. The cause of the fire is under
investigation.
Mason County Fire District 11,
West Mason Fire, PUD 3, Shelton
Police and Washington State Patrol
assisted in response to the incident.
A house fire was extinguished by Hoodsport volunteer firefighters On
Schoolhouse Hill Road on Monday. The house was reported a total loss.

Log truck rolls over
on state Route 1 06
The Washington State Patrol is
investigating a logging truck rollover
collision on state Route 106 near
milepost 11 on Monday morning.
According to Washington State
Patrol’s Katherine Weatherwax,
the driver of the log truck was
uninjured.

NMRFA, firefighters from Central
Mason, Fire District 3 and Fire Di

High Steel Fire
contained
The US. Forest Service, National
Park Service and state Department.
of Natural Resources contained the
High Steel Fire at acres as of
Sept. 23.
According to a news release, the
fire was reported Sept. and is
southeast of the High Steel Bridge in
Olympic National Forest. The cause
of the fire is undetermined and un-
der investigation.
A Type 4 incident commander,
along with the Logan Hot Shot Crew,
two engines and a dozer responded
to the fire after it was reported. The
fire is surrounded by three roads and
is plumbed with hose around the
fire. .
By Sept. the crews were able
to get containment around the fire
and the lines are holding.
There was one incident com-
mander, two engines, a 10-pers0n
camp crew and one water tender in
the area as of Sept. 23. There are no
closures in the area, but officials are
asking the public to avoid-the area
to ensure operations can contribute
smoothly. Smoke is visible in the
area and may affect traffic. If you
encounter smoke, put on your low-
beam headlights and slow down.
