• The Shelton Highclimbers
simply overpowered the Elma
Eagles for a 21-7 victory at Elma
Friday night. The Highclim,bers
displayed a strong.running at-
tack and passed only when nec-
essary.
Shelton wasted no time in get-
ting on the scoreboard. Their
first series of downs forced them
to punt, but the punter, .Brad
Bransford, drew a roughing-the-
kicker penalty. Thus Shelton re-
tained possession of the ball on
the Elma 27 yard line.
From there Mary Wilson gained
19 yards on two carries. With
the ball on the eight yard line
Ed Adams went the distance for
the score. The extra-point kick
by Dave Steinberg was good to
put the score at 7-0 Shelton.
Elma threatened late in the
first quarter. Elma fullback Luis
Spencer carried twice for 11
yards and received a 12 yard
pass for quarterback Herb Mox-
ley. The drive was stopped when

The Shelton victory give head
coach Jerry Mills a few sur-
prises. His offense worked quite
well, as quarterback Bud Tuson
mixed his plays. Tuson seems to

with his brilliant play in the
Elma game. Mary Wilson also
looked good as he gained 56 yards
in 11 carries for a fine game.
Shelton's tough defense was a
key .factor in the victory. The
defense was led. by outstanding
effort on the part of co-captains
Eldon Allen and Tom 1Yalloy.

shown by John Koch, Allan Tah-
ja, Gary Miltenberger, Bill An-
