Bill Smith, Board President, and Ron Sanford, Manager, admire Thrift Award recently presented the credit union by the National Credit Union Administration. Mason County Federal Credit Union has earned a Thrift Honor Award for its success in stimulating savings among small savers, according to Edward T. Bernhoft, Regional Director of the National Credit Union Administration. The Mason County Federal Credit Union attained a monthly rate of growth of 3.4 percent in accounts under $20,000. According to Bernhoft this growth rate was above the average for Federal credit unions of similar size. On July 31, 1075. the credit union had 0,023 members who had saved a total of $9,027.401. The credit union serves residents o[ Mason County, Washington. except employees and members of the immediate families of employees of the following: Simpson Logging Company and Simpson Timber Company in Mason County, Washington, [umbermen's Mercantile Company and Olympia Oyster Company, and Pacific Lumber and Inspection Bureau serving tile foregoing; employees of the credit union; and organizations of such p~rsons. The credit union was chartered in 1935. Mr. William H. Smith is president of the credit union, Mr. Floyd E. Powell is treasurer, and Mr. Ron Sanford manages the credit union. The National Credit Union Administration conducts its Thrift Honor Award Program to provide an incentive for officials of Federal credit unions to encourage members with small accounts to save regularly as part of their family financial management plans.
