Shelton Alternative Cinema
schedule, I
o screen mo lie
Shelton Alternative Cinema, a com-
munity based film series featuring in-
dependently produced films, will screen
its monthly movie a 7 p.m., Friday,
Sept. 30 at the PUb No. 3 auditorium,
307 W. Cota Street, Shelton. The movie
is titled "DIVE."
Every year in America, residents
throw away 96 billion pounds of food
- 263 million pounds a day. Inspired
by a curiosity about this waste - send-
ing good edible food straight to land-
fills - the award-winning documentary
"DIVE" follows filmmaker Jeremy Seif-
ert and friends as they dumpster dive
in the back alleys and gated garbage re-
ceptacles of Los Angeles' supermarkets.
In the process, they salvage thou-
sands of dollars worth of good, edible
food - resulting in this documentary
that is equal parts entertainment, gue-
rilla journalism and call-to-action.
There is no charge for admission, but
donations are welcome with all proceeds
going to SOCK's (Save Our County's
Kids) youth programs in Shelton. For
more details about the movie or SOCK,
call 432-3229, or email bob@sock.org.
