On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the High- climbers lost at home to Capital 5-0. Number 1 singles player Indi En- dicott lost 2-6, 0-6 while .No. 2 singles player Alex Newman lost 0-6, 0-6. Num- ber 1 doubles team John Pentony and Alex Deacon lost 2-6, 5-7, No. 2 doubles team Brandon Goodale and Bryson Fin- lay lost 1-6, 6-7 (5-7) and No. 3 doubles team Brian Cowley and Just Demattos lost 4-6, 4-6. "This was a good match for us even though we lost 0-5," John Perry, head coach, said. "Capital is consistently on top of their league, which is 3A in the Narrows League, and consistently sends kids to the state tournament so they are a top-notch team. The doubles were close all around, especially in the second sets, so I was pleased that we played them tough." On Thursday, Sept. 15, Shelton de- feated Yelm 4-1 on the road. Pentony, playing at No. 1 singles, lost his first set 2-6 but came back to win 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) while Deacon played as No. 2 singles and won 6-0, 6-0. En- dicott pair with Finlay at No. 1 doubles for a 7-5, 7-5 victory while Goodale and Newman won their first set at No. 2 doubles 6-3 but then lost 3-6, 3-2 and Cowley and Demattos won their first set at No. 3 doubles 6-2, lost their second set 5-7 and won their third set 6-3. "We had to default at No. 2 doubles because one of my players was ill," Perry said. "All the matches except the No. 2 singles were close, so it could have went either way. The team really buckled down in some tough situations to pull out the victory.
