Though the Highclimb-
era (0-2, 1-3) are struggling
to win, Hickle said the team
is preparing for its home
game at 7 p.m. on Friday,
Sept. 30 against Stadium
High School.
"Stadium has lost two in
a row to Bellarmine Prep
and Gig Harbor," Hinkle
said. "They return with a
two-year starter at quar-
terback and look to have
pretty good speed. Stadium
will provide a good oppor-
tunity for us to gauge our
progress."

coaches were at a large swim clinic at
the University of Puget Sound on the
same day. But he said a number of
swimmers attended the clinic.
"Davis and Kennedy went through
the drills and techniques the kids
need to do," he said. "We already
do everything they said we should
be doing, but with a twist, so this
clinic gave our team confidence th
they've been doing what they shou

Youngquist said that he alwa

"The clinic was definitely bene

sets.
North Mason won the
first set 27-25 but Shelton
responded with three con-
secutive set wins 25-21, 25-
18 and 25-14.
Despite the home vic-
tory, Shelton head coach
Steve Beck said he thought
the girls played the weak-
est he has seen them all
season.
"We did not communi-
cate, we were out of posi-
tion," Beck said. "I'd rather
play well and lose than
play ugly and win."
He said the week with-
out games was tough for
the Lady Highclimbers,
with one or two girls miss-
ing practice each evening
due to illness.
In Monday's game, se-
nior Lolly Jones led in
kills with 11 while senior
Caitlyn Ernst scored 10
and sophomore Cheyenne
Overlin scored nine.
Ernst led the team
in serving with 22 good
serves and three aces
while Overlin added 20
good serves with three
aces.

"Cheyenne was my play-
er of the night," Beck said.
"She played very aggres-
sive."
Beck added that Jordan
Leach was also a player of
note as the backup setter.
With league play begin-
ning at 6:15 p.m. on Thurs-
day, Sept. 29 at Central
Kitsap, Beck said the Lady
Highclimbers could not
continue playing the way
they did against North Ma-
son.
"Central Kitsap is a
strong team that's very
consistent," he added. "It's
been a team we've matched
up fairly well with over the
years."
Shelton will continue
its Narrows League play
on Monday, Oct. 3 at home
against Gig Harbor.
"They're tough/' Beck
said. "Tougher than Cen-
tral Kitsap in some ways."
