Rozor clam season opens
Washington's ocean beaches reopened to the 24-hour-a-day digging
of ~azor clams for personal use on Wednesday, October 1. Clam diggers
arc reminded that the daily bag limit for razors is the first 15 clams dug,
~c~mdless of size or condition. No dams may be returned to the beach,
arid each person must dig his own limit.

Deadline for women vets
Some 94,000 women veterans who have not yet used their current e~
GI Bill for education or training still have time to do so, but they <
,hould apply immediately to the nearest Veterans Administration Z
~cgional office. The deadline for completion of training (even including
last year's two-year extension for veterans discharged after January 31, _

State job total drops _ z
Nonfarm wage and salary employment in Washington State moved
up 7,700 between July and August but normal seasonal losses in Om
agJiculture resulting from the completion of the strawberry, raspberry •
and cherry harvests more than offset gains in payroll employment and t~
~he job total dropped 7,200 to a mid-August level of 1,435,500. Total Z
unemployment fell 8,000 to a mid-August level of 149,400, or 9.8

State gas consumption rises
Gasoline deliveries in Washington State during the month of July
-,bowed an in~:rease of 1.88 percent over those in the same month one
year ago. The actual number of gallons delivered by distributors during
the month of July was 161,429,781. The total is up over deliveries in
July 1~74 when the number was 158,456,657 gallons. The 1975 total is
also up from 1973 when deliveries amounted to 153,569,876 gallons.

The Internal Revenue Service reported here recently that they <
are holding more than $2,225,000 in undeliverable federal tax .l-
refund checks. "More than 5,600 checks have been returned to the
1RS by the U.S. Postal Service usually because the taxpayer has _Z
moved and Ict~ no torwarding address," said IRS District Director
Michael Sassi. Sassi urged all taxpayers who have not yet received o
~hcir refund to contact the nearest IRS office as soon as possible. •
New rules for snowmobiles
Snowmobile owners throughout the state have been reminded
by the Department of Motor Vehicles that their registrations have
expired and of new requirements under recent legislation. New
'~talc law requires all snowmobiles to be registered. In the past,
,nowmobiles operated exclusively on the owner's property were
c~empt trom registering.

Log exports up this year
A total of 253.3 million board feet of softwood logs was
exported from all ownerships in Washington, Oregon, northern
California and Alaska in July. The July volume was down five •
percent from June 1975 exports, but up 19.4 percent from the July O
Iq74 total. Some 236.4 million board feet, or 93 percent of the July Z
1075 ~vs! coast log exports, went to Japan.
