Ired an expert to work in your interests. lek. Li The Fly Loft Players of Shelton's Little Theater demonstrated some of their talent for the public last week. Their enthusiasm should be contagious and anyone interested in pursuing this community activity should find it very rewarding. The Shelton Public Library has a good collection of books on acting and the theater for those interested in acting or for the onlooker. "The Craftsmen of Dionysus; An Approach to Acting" by Jerome Rockwood, should be rary as very helpful to students of the theater. Some points that are discussed are various approaches to acting, characterization, and speaking. "Improvisation for the Theater; a handbook of teaching and directing techniques," by Viola Spolin, applies game form to theater technique to open the theater experience to people of all ages and interests. More than 200 theater games make up the major portion of this handbook, demonstrating how a leader or OU ac an ea drama coach can encourage release of inner creativity. "Actors On Acting," edited by Toby Colas and Helen Krich Chinoy, presents theories, techniques and practices of the world's great actors told in their own words. The background of great performers is covered in more than one hundred biographies, revealing the intricate craft and deeply human art of the actor. Marion Geisinger's "Plays, Players and Playwrights" offers a complete survey of the English speaking theater from the early Greek drama through the Broadway season of 1971. The theater buff will be nostalgically enthralled by many remembrances of yesteryear, for this volume is replete with famous scenes of the Broadway stage and London stage• "In Curtains," by Kenneth Tynan, he writes about the plays of the decade of the 1950"s .... all the interesting ones from Shakespeare and Tennessee Williams and the angry young men to Gypsy. He profiles theatrical personalities from Sir Laurence Olivier to Garbo to Jack Benny and he goes backstage in five countries and illuminates the problems of their theater. Find out about this expressive art form at the Shelton Public Library. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Love of Murder The very emphasis of the commandment: Thou shall not kill, makes it certain that we are descended from an endlessly long chain of generations of murderers• whose love of murder was in their blood as it is perhaps also in ours.
