Central Mason Fire & EMS re-
sponded at about noon on Sept. 26
to a structure fire at an abandoned
house at 2123 Washington St. in
the Mountain View area of Shelton.
Upon their arrival crews noticed
a large amount of smoke coming
from the top floor of a two-story ad-
dition to the home.
Crews extinguished the fire
quickly.
"(There was) a lot of smoke, but
not much fire," said Central Mason
Assistant Chief Mike Patti.
Patti said the cause of the fire is
under investigation. The home has
been abandoned, he said, and has
no power, but it appeared the room
where the fire started was being
used for storage.
Last spring Central Mason
crews responded to another fire
in the main portion of the house.
Investigators determined it to be
deliberately set. Two juveniles are
currently being prosecuted for the
crime.
