Calgary, Alberta, Canada, left on
Wednesday of last week for her
home after spending an enjoyable

Hm'rican Ridge and eastern Wash-
ington to visit.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Stoner vis-
ited over the weekend in Poulsbo

ily gathering in Renton at the
home of Mrs. Lova Marine wherc
they wished a farewell to cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Laccy who
were returning to their home in
Baltimore, Maryland.

and Mrs. Glen Rickards and chil-
dren of Chehalis, Mr. and Mrs.

Schur had as guests, Erlene Wil-
son and Marie Warncs of Shelton
and Doris Hickson. The girls en-
joyed sleeping in their sleeping

Fred Lament spent Sunday

weekend visiting his father here.

The Mary M. Knight P.T.O.
meeting will be held at the school
auditorium this Thursday, Oct. 8
at 8 p.m. After the regular busi-
ness meeting, Mr. Henry Sehoup,
Mary M. h:night teacher will show
films taken in the Olympic Moun-
tains. Following this refreshments
consisting of sandwiches, cake,
cookies and coffee will be served.
Supper committee this month is
Mrs. Nellie Chappell, Mrs. Archie
Kelly and Mrs. "Dec" Palmer.

of Matlock retutaed Monday from
a two weeks moose hunting trip
to Canada. No moose. Tough luck
fellows.
Mr. and, Mrs. Robert Menden-
ball were Sunday dinner guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chappell at
Matloek. The occasion was the
Chappells' 13th wedding anniver-
sary.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph' Springer
and family motored to Brinnon on
Sunday and visited with Mr. and-
Mrs. Fred Springer and Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Springer. They also
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Blenz of Spokane.
Dewey Bennett of Shelton was
at the Henry Chappell place on
Sunday to shoe three horses be-
longing to William Wright and
Hank and Walt Chappell.
Mr. Tom Blauvelt and son Jim
of Milton §pent the weekend at
their cabin west of Matlock.

and evening. The films showed the
people and children, the school
house, slimmer canlp, and scenic
views of the community where she
has been working the past year.
Plans are under way for the
church group here to send her a
return letter with slides "rod re-
cordings of this comnmnity. Faith
will soon be moving lo a new sta-
tion at Pedro Bay on Lake Illi-
anma.
THE TIN TIM Orthopedic Guild
met Wednesday evening in the
Lilliwaup home of Mrs. William
McKasson. The group made cone
and dried pod candle holders
which will be sohl at the Orthope-
dic Mart in the Winthrop Hotel in
Tacoma, with proceeds going to
the Mary Bridge Orthopedic ttos-
pital. Mrs. Amy Graves was co-
hostess for the meeting. Officers
Of the Tiny Tim Guild this year
are Mrs. Tom Seiger, president;
Mrs. Oliver Gray, secretary; Mrs.
Howard Thomason, treasurer; and
Mrs. Jim Dean, program chair-
nlan.
The second grade girls of
Hoodsport school have formed a
Brownie Troop under the leader-:
ship of Mrs. William McKasson.
Mrs. Wilbur Bolender and Mrs.

the group. The troop is sponsored
by the American Legion Auxiliary
and Mrs. Esther Christensen. Girls
who are anxious to have the year's

tor for the Hoodsport area wishes
each leader to keep a sample of all
handwork done by their group to
display in the window during
Scout week in March.

the kindergarten session on Wed-
nesday when their mothers, Mrs.

gathered in the Lower Skokomish
school on Thursday evening for a
metting of the P.T.A. The room
count was won by Mrs. McDow-
cll's room. Mr. Merryfield, psychi-
atric examiner for the Mason
County schools was speaker for
the evening and told of the child
guidance and testing program
being set up in the county, with
tim help of teachers, principals
and guidance directors. Refresh-
ments were served by Mrs. Rudy
Schwab, Mrs. Harrison Devoe, and
Mrs. Earl Crumb.
Ed Murphy and a friend from
Hollywood, Cedric Lannan enjoy-
ed good fishing on the canal when
they caught two nice fish. Later
in the week Mm2ahy caught a 12
pound hooknose near DeWatto.
Charles Chester
Dies in Seattle
Death claimed Charles Rooney
Chester, 69, Grapeview, on Wed-
nesday of last week in King Coun-
ty Hospital, Seattle.
Mr. Chester, a resident of
Grapeview for the past 40 years
was born May 2, 1890, in Che-
halts. He was a failer and buck-
er in the logging industry.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth,
Grapeview; two sons, Charles and
Harold, Tacoma; a step-son, How-
ard Landon, Shelton; two sisters,
Mrs. Dora Taylor and Mrs, Elsie
Hinkle, CentraIIa, and five grand-
children.
Ftmeral services were held at
11 a.m., Saturday, in Byrne and
Batstone Funeral home, by the
Rev. Eugene C. Knautz. Burial

Chappells' 13th wedding anniver-

people and children, the school
house, slimmer canlp, and scenic
views of the community where she
has been working the past year.
Plans are under way for the
church group here to send her a
return letter with slides "rod re-
cordings of this comnmnity. Faith
will soon be moving lo a new sta-
tion at Pedro Bay on Lake Illi-
anma.
THE TIN TIM Orthopedic Guild
met Wednesday evening in the
Lilliwaup home of Mrs. William
McKasson. The group made cone
and dried pod candle holders
which will be sohl at the Orthope-
dic Mart in the Winthrop Hotel in
Tacoma, with proceeds going to
the Mary Bridge Orthopedic ttos-
pital. Mrs. Amy Graves was co-

Ed Murphy and a friend from
Hollywood, Cedric Lannan enjoy-
ed good fishing on the canal when
they caught two nice fish. Later

Charles Chester
Dies in Seattle
Death claimed Charles Rooney
Chester, 69, Grapeview, on Wed-
nesday of last week in King Coun-
ty Hospital, Seattle.
Mr. Chester, a resident of
Grapeview for the past 40 years
was born May 2, 1890, in Che-
halts. He was a failer and buck-
er in the logging industry.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth,
Grapeview; two sons, Charles and
Harold, Tacoma; a step-son, How-
ard Landon, Shelton; two sisters,
Mrs. Dora Taylor and Mrs, Elsie
Hinkle, CentraIIa, and five grand-
children.
Ftmeral services were held at
11 a.m., Saturday, in Byrne and
Batstone Funeral home, by the
