soring their annual patriotic es-
say and "Voice of Democracy"
competitions.
This year's theme is "America's
Role for the Next Century." Stu-
dents in grades 3-6 are to write
up to 250 words and those in
grades 7-8 can write up to 400
words. High-school students are
to present their speeches on tape.
Entries are due October 27. In-
tbrmation is available at local
schools or from Bill and Annette
McGee at 426-1925 or 426-2120.
Exchange
program
seeks reps
World Heritage, a nonprofit
student exchange program, seeks
local representatives to help pro-
vide local program support to
high-school students from several
countries in the Mason County
area.
Community representatives
plan an annual orientation, meet
with the schools, provide support
counseling for participants,
screen potential host families,
and visit with the exchange stu-
dents on a monthly basis. They
report to a regional coordinator,
and their general expenses are re-
imbursed by the organization.
Students in the program come
from Germany, France, Spain, Ja-
pan and the former Soviet Union
countries, among others.
Adults who would like to join
the team of representatives are

words. High-school students are
to present their speeches on tape.
Entries are due October 27. In-

Exchange
program
seeks reps
World Heritage, a nonprofit
student exchange program, seeks
local representatives to help pro-
vide local program support to
high-school students from several
countries in the Mason County
area.
Community representatives
plan an annual orientation, meet
with the schools, provide support
counseling for participants,
screen potential host families,
and visit with the exchange stu-
dents on a monthly basis. They
report to a regional coordinator,
and their general expenses are re-
imbursed by the organization.
Students in the program come
from Germany, France, Spain, Ja-
pan and the former Soviet Union
countries, among others.

the team of representatives are
