Editor, the Journal,
Hail to the new Head Swamp Crea-
ture. Four years ago, he promised to
clean up the DC. swamp, but instead
he rules the swamp for his own inter—
ests: ‘ i
1. Pay-to-play Trump hotels (grift-
er specials).
2. Paying lower taxes than almost
all Mason County residents.
3. Trashing the US. Postal Service
and making totally false claims about
‘ the election process to work on his,
swamp for four more years.
4. Ignoring the science on virology
and immunology (over 210,000 dead)
to try to get re-elected.
His swamp cleanup is so egregious
that the New England Journal of
Medicine and Scientific American
(among the most respected medical
and science journals in the country)
have for the first time in, respectively,
208 years and 175 years, endorsed a
political candidate for any office (Joe
Biden), due to Donald Trump’s total
mishandling of the coronavirus. Vote
like your country and your health de-
pend on it.

Trump loves
America best
Editor, the Journal, 1
Donald Trump was not my choice
for president, but having won, 'he in-
else in America.
There was a boy whose fortune
it was to be forever linked to this
trigued me and I did a lot of watching
and reading to learn more about him.
Trump was a high—roller, energetic
man of all trades, a real estate mogul
and builder, a Hollywood celebrity,
and yes, involved in the lifestyle; a
playboy but one who loved his chil—
dren, which is very evident by their
devotion. One either loved or hated
him, but many who have known him
for years will testify that he doesn’t
have a racist bone in his body, is
generous, loves America and the Con—
stitution with all his heart (I’ve seen
that), and is overwhelmingly optimis—
tic and positive to a fault, and yes,
while not a churchgoer, has a strong
belief in God.
An imperfect man, no politician
with pretty words; bloviator, brag-
gadocio, sometimes rude; a glass not
only half full but overflowing with
optimistic exaggerations to which his
detractors cling to as lies. With him,
watch what he does, not what he says.
Contrary to some reports, he eagerly
works with minorities, loves our vet-
erans and military, and places women
in high positions and esteem.
People tell me not to watch FOX
News. I watchall networks, but I
watch FOX News because it is the
only channel that will show the presi-
dent in live action. I’m unable to do
much, so I watch every press confer-
ence, rally, his many roundtables,
every step he took organizing the
COVID task force and its daily meet—
ings. Everything I have learned about
the man was directly live from him
and his activities and talks, not the
regurgitated, selectively edited sound
’ bite leftovers that show up on other
networks or his detractors on social
media, so much of which is edited and
out of context. The president I watch
live has no resemblance to the presi-
dent I see on network newscasts and

COMMISIONER PUD 3
To my fellow Mason County Citizens, from John Komen

his grandparents’ log cabin near the
Elwha Ranger Station. He remembers
the old CCC encampment. The young
men of the Civilian Conservation
Corps would take the boy on jeep—

But I do not, nor have I ever, voted
for personality of the candidate or
their degree of perfection. I can only
vote on the platform that will serve
America best, keeping her from be-
coming a one-party nation by stack-
ing the court as Joe Biden will do,
and allowing socialistic tendencies
to insidiously raise their ugly head.
I can only vote on a platform that
Will embrace the Constitution and
all its amendments, law and order,
our police, the right to worship as we
please, the defense of our borders, the
constitutional right of life, liberty and
pursuit of happiness for all, includ-
ing the unborn, the equal rights of all
citizens regardless of the color of their
skin, as I believe that all lives matter
and there is no greater country in the
world for all races and creeds to live,
all of which President Trump embrac— 1
es. I am not finding this in Biden’s
America, with Kamala Harris, Bernie
Sanders and AOC pulling the strings.
President Trump traded his wealth
for his country. We are seeing that
Biden traded his country for his
wealth. Vote wisely.

Questions
about Jackson
Editor, the Journal,
A hearty thank you for an informa—
tive question-and-answer discussion
with» commissioner candidates Randy
Neatherlin and Ted Jackson.
However, it’s disheartening J ack-
son is embroiled in more controversy
at the Port of Allyn. Why isn’t he at-
tending all regular port meetings?
John
The boy lived wonderful summers in and radio, a career that led him from ,
Seattle to New York and back. Then ,5
he returned to the Olympic Peninsula 3
and Mason County, building a home
on a Mason Lake lot purchased 58 .
years ago.
Why has he stopped communicating
with the port’s executive director?
Why did Mr. Jackson decline the
North Mason candidate debate and
declined interviews about his run for
county commissioner? He missed a
great opportunity to explain his sud-
den departure from the Dupont Police
Department.
Mr. VanBuskirk and Mr. Gerhardt
question everyone asking if Jackson
supporters are suing Mason County
for political gain. Is it an environ-
mental lawsuit being used to smoke-
screen questionable behavior at the
port?
I’m unquestionably voting for
Randy Neatherlin.

Do your job
or step aside
Editor, the Journal,
I don’t know Commissioner Kevin '
Shutty. I talked to him one time to
discuss the underfunding of the public
defenders’ office. This is a constitu-
tional issue; the county is required
to adequately fund that office or get
sued. Mr. Shutty’s answer was, “come
on down and show me somewhere
we can cut.” I’m not getting paid to
do that, Mr. Shutty, you are, and it
still hasn’t been done. If you want to
pay me, I’ll be happy to do it. But if
you can’t or won’t do the job you were
elected to do, step aside for someone
else.

Now it is time to say thank you. So I
offer to serve you—my fellow Mason
wonderland. He grew up on the
Olympic Peninsula. In his boyhood,
Shelton was where you entered this
land of mountain peaks, rushing
streams and fascinating wildlife.
The boy remembers to this day the
astonishingly huge herd of Olympic
elk as it crashed its migration way
across the Elwha River.
He remembers the Eastern brook
trout caught in tiny streams that
flowed into Griff Creek. And he
remembers putting boards across an
inner tube and floating in streams
meandering from the swift—flowing
Elwha River.
The boy grew up to become a
newsman. He enjoyed forty years in
television, newspapers, wire services
County citizens—by working for you
as a commissioner of Mason County
Public Utility District 3.
The November 3 ballot will soon be
in your mail. I Would be honored to '
have you select me to serve you in
this important nonpartisan office.
Thank you.
