ith more than 30
years of combined
experience in scuba
diving, John and Katherine
Yackel want to treat the
people of Hoodsport and be-
yond to the freeing world they
experience every time they
take a dip.
The Yackels had previ-
’ ously worked as independent
contractors before they were
able to expand the scope of
their operations with an es-
tablished location for YSS
(Yackel Scuba Services) Dive.
YSS Dive opened at 24080
N. US. Highway 101 in Hood-
sport, the former location of
Hoodsport ‘N Dive, a business
the Yackels hasten to add is
still in business, just in a dif-
ferent location now.
“Thefre really good
people,” John Yackel said of
Hoodsport ‘N Dive, which
is now 23891 N. US. 101 in
Hoodsport. “Thanks to them,
I” THE DARK REVIEWS
we got a location that’s al-
ready known to a lot of people
who are into diving.”
YSS Dive caters just as
much to those who aren’t al-
ready into diving, though, by
offering PADI (Professional
Association of Diving Instruc-
tors) scuba diving certifica—
tions, “Discover Scuba Diving”
for beginners and guided
tours for certified scuba div-
ers, in addition to providing
retail and repair services.
“We can get you trained up,
and once you’re certified, help
you find family—friendly travel
destinations for scuba diving,"
Katherine Yackel said.
John and Katherine Yackel
received Elite Instructor
Awards from PADI for 2018
and 2019, and were even fea-
tured in the Undersea Jour-
nal’s “Exceeding Expecta-
tions” article for its first first
quarter of 2020 issue.
And yet, no matter how
many times they go under
