Page B-10 - Shelton-Mason County Journal - Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 continued from page B-1 was followed up in stoppage time by senior midfielder Natalie Rosen, who netted the game's final goal. Rosen slot- ted the ball in the left side off a rebound. It was the ninth victory this season for the Vikings. "The girls did good," Vi: kings coach Greg St. Peter said. "It was a good matchup. The keeper was outstanding, she had several good saves. It's an impressive group. We needed this win and they put up a good fight." North Kitsap, which has become a rival of North Ma- son, couldn't penetrate the Bulldogs' defense in the first half. The only viable shot the Vikings took was on a corner kick in the 25th minute. Shi- pley sent the ball toward the right corner, but Mihelich swatted it down. The first half ended in a 0-0 deadlock. Bulldog senior Abygail Lei- bold said the match was a good lesson for the Bulldogs. "I think our touches and our communication, we'll definite- ly have to start working up on that," Leibold said. "Hopefully we'll finish out strong. I just think first touch is always im- portant, but sometimes those balls can get slick. It's been misty out here, so hopefully well work on that." Stark scored the team's lone goal on a penalty kick. North Mason's final match of the season is 6:45 p.m. to- day against Kingston. In the beginning of October, the Bulldogs shut out Kingston 3-0. If North Mason places in the top four in the Olympic League, it will advance to the 2A West Central District III tournament. Matches will be played Oct. 29, Nov. 1, 3 and 5. The games will be played at Franklin Pearce Stadium, Fife High School or Silver- dale Stadium. .ace in continued from page B- 1 placed 13th with a time of 29.93. Youngquist called her the transformer of the team. "Brenna solidified her- self as the person that is going to be on all three of our relays," Youngquist said. "Her stroke tech- nique -- she doesn't have the power or experience -- but it's the kind of stroke that she can go as far as she wants to go with it. With good train- ing and focus and a sup- port cast around her, I think she should have the goal of going to state at some point. That was a big transformation for her." Junior Hannah Oli- ver, who has been a steady force this sea- son, continued to clock solid times in her races. During the 100-yard butterfly, Oliver placed 15th with a time of 1:23.64. In the 100- yard breaststroke, she placed llth in a time of 1:23.50. Youngquist added he was impressed with ju- nior Angellica BP. She placed 16th in the 100- yard freestyle and 15th in the 100-yard back- stroke. Shelton now has two weeks to prepare for the district meet. Youngquist said he is not sure what to expect since there will be new district teams Shelton hasn't faced be- fore. "I'd like to say we're on the edge of qualifying for state," Youngquist said. "But with this new league and the new district, we have more wildcard opportunities but we have a new dis- trict coming in that isn't traditionally strong. But I don't know how it will play out. I don't think it'll be easier, but I don't know what will hap- pen." For Leach, it might be the final time she swims competitively, so she wants to leave on a high note. "I'm just excited to see how we do," she said. • "I'm really excited for the relays because I think we can get better times in those. We have two weeks so I mean that's a lot of time to improve."
