Staff report
news@masoncounty. com
An early morning house fire de-
stroyed an older single-family resi-
dence in Shelton on Sunday, but a
nearby garage and its contents were
saved from the flames.
The fire was reported at 6:44 am.
and the first-arriving unit was on
scene five minutes later, reporting a
“heavily involved” residential struc-
ture. A separate metal garage building
was within 2 feet of the burning house,
so fire crews concentrated on saving
that building and its contents.
Damage to the building at 2004
Beverly Blvd. is listed as a total loss.
Mason County tax records show the
value of the building at $90,200, and
Central Mason Fire representatives
estimated another $20,000 for its con-
tents, for a total loss of approximately
$110,000.
Fire investigators and the Shelton
Police Department are working to de-
termine the origin and cause of the
fire.
