plete with. costumes and hidden
candy or other treats scattered
throughout your house or yard,

There have been a few worthy suc-
cessors to Browning’s 1931 “Dracula.”
Christopher Lee played Dracula in sev-.
en of the nine “Hammer Horror” films,
from 1958 to 1973, and as “The Lord of
the Rings” director Peter Jackson will
tell you, Lee was literally overqualified
to play James Bond (whose creator, Ian
Dracula, who initially appears much
older, but his personality remains
beastly.
All of that changed when Bela Lu-
gosi, aka the George Clooney of Hun-
gary, donned his dapper tuxedo and
regal cape, and slicked back his distin-
guished widow’s peak, to play Count
Dracula for Browning in 1931.
Whereas Stoker’s Dracula always
exuded a creepy stalker vibe, Lugosi’s
Dracula was handsome, charming and
