“It’s a marathon,” Alderbrook Golf and
YachtClub’s (AGYC) new general manager told the
Shelton-Mason Journal. ‘
“The most important thing for our team, and
that’s golf, grounds, food and beverage, is to try to
find ways to improve on a daily basis while being
mindful and respectful of tradition but also to be ,
aware of being relevant. We want this to be our
members’ favorite place to be.”
And those geals, he said, make managing AGYC
a team sport. '
Repeta said he got his start at Fountain Hills
in Bellevue, Nebraska, where his father, a United
States Air Force navigator of RV-66s, had been sta-
tioned.

.“Serendipitously, my background was through
the back of the house,” he said, recalling his time as
an executive chef in’ Fort Worth, where he enjoyed
two stints on the Texas Culinary Olympic Team,
once as itscaptain'. He worked his way though the
culinary arts there.
“Dishwasher,- bus boy, whatever they needed,
then to move from executive chef to clubhouse
manager,” he said. He noted that he was given the
opportunity to learn hospitality from the ground
up, whichg'ves him perspective and insight on the
service Alderbrook members have come to expect.
“Our Executive Chef Leon does a great job. Now
I’m here to do everything I can to fully support him
and all of our department heads.” He said he was
impressed by what he calls “the foundation of great
tenure” at Alderbrook, pointing to the grounds su-
perintendent who has worked at the course for 30-
plus years.

Desserts.
‘fBoth my wife and I continue with our passion
for the out-of-doors. That’s something very, very
exciting,” he said of his move to the Northwest.
“Ultimately this is just an outstanding opportunity
to further continue my career. ~
“We’re empty—nesters. Our daughter, Ellen, just
received her master’s from the University of Texas
at Dallas and she and her boyfriend, Matthew, are
outdoors people. He’s from California so it was all
just meant to be. Here we have the best of both
worlds. You fish on the Hood Canal, climb up in
the mountains and hike. You can have your own
private time and still have friends to be around,” he
said.
According to a AGYC news release, Repeta is a
certified chief executive and certified clubmanager
with the Club Managers Associationof America.
