Looney Heads Tutoring Group Work, ng Fro m UW The 1967 student body Vice Looney . rying to work President of Shelton ltigh School, himself out of a job by doubling Steve Looney, is on the the number of tutors, whichwould co-directors of an unusual student entitle S.T.A.Y. to federal funds project at the University of Washington, the Seattle Tutoring Agency for Youth. Looney, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Looney, Shelton, co-directs S.T.A.Y., which involves more than 600 student volunteer tutors, who assist children from disadvantaged backgrounds. A junior in Accounting, Looney is planning to enter Law School after graduation. He has worked on publicity for the Associated Students of the Univeristy, and is presently enrolled in the Reserve Officer Training Corps. S.T.A.Y. is a program that extends the abilities of University students to under privileged school children in the Seattle area. The student receives valuable experience teaching children, while giving the child the advantage of a private instructor and a friend. to hire a full-time administrator. This would give better continuity to the program which sometimes suffers because of the lack of volunteer time.
