Central Beats Shelton Cross-Country Team Central Kitsap took the first six places in their meet with the Highclimbers at Shelton's Homecoming last Tuesday, to run up a perfect score and win, 15-59. Jim Connolly, Shelton's leading runner, could manage only seventh place as the top spot for the Climbers. Shelton was without two of their top harriers because of sickness. Following Connolly for Shelton were Rich James, Jim Johnsen, George Lemagie, Mark Grubb, and Randy Wiltman. The loss, coupled with two last week to West Bremerton and Lakeside, brought the Climbers Viking Jayvees Nip Hnghcliml:,.=rs Scoring with little time on the clock, the North Kitsap junior varsity came from six points behind to take a 22-20 win from the Shelton Highclimbers in Pouslbo Monday. The Vikings scored first in the first quarter and missed the extra point, then scored again and made the extra points to take a 14-0 lead going into the second quarter. The Climbers made one of the extra point attempts, and it was tied 14-14 at the first half gun. Neth scored again in the fourth period to put the Climbers on top for the first time in the ball game. The important extra points were not made this time, and Shelton led by a slim six, 20-14. Following an interception of a Climber pass, North Kitsap went to the Climbers' endzone via a big penalty, and with only around a minute to go, the Vikings led, 22-20. Shelton took the kickoff, but could do nothing before the gun went off to end the game. The Climbers last junior varsity game is next Monday against the Central Kitsap Cougars on Loop Field at four o'clock.
