a success,
organizers say
Organizers of Shelton's
annual Mason County Forest
Festival on Monday told the
Shelton City Commission that
this summer's event was well
attended.
Event president Michael
Sprouffske said about 8,000
people attended the 72nd an-
nual event June 2-5, despite
the temperature reaching
about 90 degrees on Saturday
and 97 on Sunday.
The car show attracted 314
entries, Sprouffske said.
The Forest Festival royalty
court and volunteers partici-
pated in six parades, includ-
ing Seattle's Seafair Parade,
and won awards in all six, he
said.
Next year's festival will be
staged June 1-4, Sprouffske
said.
Organizer Amy Cooper told
the commissioners the orga-
nizers are in "dire need" of
volunteers, including a presi-
dent, parade chair and a float
chair.
