Letters to the editor ...
Proud of his brother
Editor, The Herald:
The school board election is his-
tory and the people have spoken
loudly! Congratulations to all the
winners. I wish you all success in
the years ahead.
That being said, this is a letter of
appreciation to my brother, Glenn
Landram, tbr his service the past
several years on the school board.
I just recently moved back to the
area after being gone for the last 22
years, but I did on occasion make
the trip from Des Moines for sev-
eral school board meetings.
Glenn never wavered in his con-
victions! He stood, often alone, and
faced concerned townspeople with
grace and dignity. He always let
even the most vocal opponents of
his concepts speak without inter-
ruption. Many meetings I would
witness personal attacks on his
character and ideas, and then I
would hear him thank them for
voicing their concerns.
Glenn led when it was hard to
lead! During his term as president,
he has been blamed, rightly or
wrongly, for every perceived prob-
lem this district has encountered,
yet he handled it with the utmost
class, even as a very organized group
kept delivering the insults and per-
sonal affronts. He has weathered
the storm! I have learned from him
and been inspired by him for 50
years; it just so happens that I had
to share the past four of them with
the public. I love you, big brother.
