Man missing in Hoodsport
The Mason County Sheriffs Office began search—
ing for a missing person Nov. 15 in the Hoodsport
area, the same day the missing person’s unoccupied
car was found.
The Sheriffs Office received a report early in the
morning of Nov. 15 that Gary W. Ballentine had left
with his black-and-white blue heeler dog to go to
the Hoodsport Post Office on Saturday morning and
never returned.
A vehicle belonging to Ballentine was found unoc-
cupied in the area of Schoolhouse Road on Nov. 15,
and the report received by the Sheriff 5 Office in-
cluded information that Ballentine might have been
looking at property in the area.
K-9 and ground search teams from Jefferson, Kit—
sap, Pierce and Mason counties searched the area,
along with teams from Olympic Mountain Rescue,

until around 11:30 p.m. Nov. 15. Searchers returned
early the next morning to continue the search.
Ballentine is described as a 68-year-old white
man, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing
195 pounds. '
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone
with information to contact them at 360-426-4441.
Dogs found on SR3
Chelsea Hodgson, a trooper and public informa-
tion officer for the Washington State Patrol, report- '
ed in the early afternoon of Nov. 15 that two dogs,
a male and a female, were found on state Route 3
near milepost 17, in the area of Dawn Drive.
If you believe your dogs were the pair found in
Mason County, check the Kitsap County Humane
Society’s website at kitsap-humane.org, and give
them a call at 360-692-6977.
Break at Shelton Music
Sometime during the early morning hours of
Nov. 16, an unknown suspect smashed the front
window of Shelton Music at 415 Railroad Ave. and
removed two guitars from the window display.
According to Shelton Police Chief Darrin Moody,
the suspect then fled with the merchandise, while
police were called at approximately 7:30 am. on
Nov. 16, when someone noticed the broken window.
As of press time, Moody reported the suspect had
not yet been located, and police estimated the loss
at several hundred dollars. ,
Shelton Police detectives are following up on
the case, so Moody advises anyone with possible
information to contact the Shelton Police at 360-
426-4441.
