The Mason County Ministerial Association is sponsoring a special Thanksgiving service at the United Methodist Church starting with a family smorgasbord-style dinner at 6 p.m. November 26. Families with last names beginning with letters A to M are asked to take a hot dish and a salad and those with last names beginning with letters N to Z are asked to bring a hot dish and dessert. They also should take table settings and drinks for the children. Coffee will be furnished. In it he relates his life in Montana, at West Point and in Air Force activity. There is film footage from World War !I. The crisis in his life comes in Vietnam when, during a bombing mission, unauthorized enemy fire from across the demilitarized zone leads to the death of his nee to help in the Walk for the Retarded which will be conducted here by the Mason County Unit of the Washington Association for Retarded Citizens. Hoag is county chairman of the hike, which will take place December 6 in behalf of the mentally retarded in Mason County. The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. from the covered area at Evergreen Elementary School and will follow a route, charted by Les Rogers of the Timber Runners 4-Wheel Drive Club, to the new Shelton High School. The Four convicted in park thefts Four persons from the Shelton area were found guilty of larceny which occurred in the Staircase area of Olympic National Park, the National Park Service said this week. Sentences ranged from $50 fines to jail sentences and were imposed by the U.S. Magistrate in Tacoma. The park services said the park's criminal investigator, Steve Kernes, had discovered in investigation that five persons from the Shelton area had been camping in the Staircase area and that, when they ran low on food, they decided to steal what they needed from fellow campers. During the night, food and other camping gear were taken from 11 campsites, the investigator found. Some of those involved were juveniles.
