pound track hurdler also had a
team-high five interceptions to go
along with two pass deflections, a
sack, a quarterback hurry and a
fumble recovery.
Adam also forced a fumble and
blocked two kicks.
Spurling's defensive backfield
mates Moliga and Barrett amassed
20 and 16 primary tackles, respec-
tively, and combined for three inter-
ceptions and five pass deflections.
The 5-9, 165-pound Barrett is
only the second Climber fresh in
the modern era to earn all-league
votes. The first: our friend Taito.
TUTTLE, A STANDOUT in
the weightroom as well with legit-
imate state-title hopes in power-
lifting, earned his rare double dis-
tinction by catching 16 passes for
231 yards and two touchdowns on
one side of the ball and making 42
primary tackles and a team-high
15 assists and three fumble recov-
eries on the other.
The six-two, 240-pound senior
also forced a fumble, had a sack
and a QB hurry, successfully de-
fended against three passes and
logged a tackle for loss of yardage.
Earning recognition for a sec-
ond straight year were Garfias,
Carnahan and Chapman - the
latter despite missing half the sea-
son with a fractured collarbone.
The Climbers took a final public
bow this past Monday. The occa-

quet.

up there with Tyesen Robbins; you
know, he was all-world here.
"And then it was really nice to
get the two offensive linemen, you
know - Schlauderaff and Niko-
laisen - because both pass-pro-
tection and run-blocking-wise the
offensive line did a very good job
this year."
INDEED, THANKS in no
small measure to that O line, 5-8,
170-pound speedmerchant Bur-
bridge wound up breaking now-
collegian Isaiah Taito's Climber
single-game and season rushing
records this year as Shelton fin-
ished second in league and went to
the playoffs.
Burbridge rushed for 1,653
yards and 23 touchdowns in '07.
The TD count represents a new
single-season record at Climb-
erville as well, by the way, with
Taito's 22 back in '03 being the old
standard.
Kyle finished his Climber ca-
reer with 2,798 rushing yards.
Taito still holds the record in that
department, with 3,879 between
2001 and 2004. Kyle had 1,027
yards and 12 touchdowns in '06
and 118 and two, respectively, his
sophomore year.
HANES, THE PERENNIAL
first-team linebacker whose switch
to defensive end this fall resulted
in some all-state speculation as
well, parlayed his 5-11,230-pound
persuasions into team-leading
totals of three sacks, ten quar-
ibrcings in '07, when he also regis-
tered 42 primary tackles, tied for
third most on the team.
Simply put, he routinely domi-
nated the line of scrimmage, notes
Hinkle - wreaking havoc despite
double- and even triple-teaming.
"Great intensity," says Coach.
Not incidentally, Jacob wound
up second to Lakes' Division-l-
bound defensive back Jerome
Kearse in the "Defensive Player of
the Year" balloting.
THE RANGIEST OF Shelton's
four honored Jacobs, six-four sig-
nal-caller Hicks, got the first-team
nod at quarterback with the pro-
motion of Division 1-bound posi-
tion rival Calvin Schmidtke of
Lakes to the league's "Most Valu-
able Player" distinction.
Hicks certainly had all-league-
worthy numbers as well, though,
with 1,455 yards and ten touch-
downs on 109-for-216 passing. He
was picked off 11 times, but most
of those interceptions came with
the Climbers trailing and tbrced to
throw caution to the wind.
The Climbers' veteran quarter-
back also saved his best for crunch
time this fall, completing 13 of 20
for 201 yards and a touchdown in
the Climbers' 32-21 win over arch-
rival Capital in their regular-sea-
son finale and then 19 for 31 for
208 yards against postseason van-
quisher Bellevue.
