' The veteran must have been rated less than 100 percent disabled by VA for his service-connected injuries to be eligible for the newly added compensation for nonservice-eonnected loss, Richard F. Francis Catto was the speaker at the meeting who first gave a brief geological history of the canal, and the flora and fauna so abundant and beautiful, followed by the history of the settlers. Mrs. Catto highlighted the lives of outstanding IJood ('anal women in the early setllement of the area. The audience was given a brief, but fascinatiug history of life around the canal in the early days, from the sometimes startling point of view of active and influential women in these parts. The hostesses for this meeting were Lily Wilkinson and Marie McCune. The next meeting will be a potluck luncheon December 21. The Exceptional Manor women are annual guesls at the Hood Canal Woman's Club December meetings. They plan to sing Christmas carols and will be served refreshments.
