With 14 returning basketball players from the Knight
Owl varsity team last season, the Mary M. Knight boys'
basketball team is working for improvement.
"They're looking alright," Tim Diggle, head coach, said.
"They're not in running shape yet but we'll get there. It's
a battle of the hearts."
Diggle, in his fifth season as head coach of the Knight
Owls, said there are four seniors returning to the team
this year - Eric Johnson, Sean Sexton, Jonathan Pais
and Jason VanAuken. The team is also gained four fresh-
men this season.
Last season, the Knight Owls finished second in the
league and won their first game in the district playoffs.
A loss to Montesano in the second round of the district
playoffs ended the Knight Owls' season.
Diggle said he thinks the team can improve on their
2010-2011 record this season.
"Our defense needs to improve and team playing," Dig-
gle said. "The team is working hard at times. This is day
five so they're pretty sure."
The first official game. as of press time, is scheduled
for Monday, Dec, 5.
"Come watch the boys," Diggle said. "It'll be fun. Over-
all. it's a good group."

The NBA lockout has been going on for 20 weeks as of
press time, but that doesn't mean basketball fans have to
go withou their favorite sport.
Highclimber basketball season starts
next week with the first girls' home
game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30
against Timberline

watch.
"Clara Robbins and Jordanne

year on varsity," Leth said. "They both

Leth also mentioned Taylor Stroud and Cheyanne
Overlin as young players with potential.
"Stroud played in 10 varsity games as a freshman
and she'll be a point guard this season," Leth said.

"Austin Sehriado spent a lot of time playing this fall
with Kasey Thompson," Jensen said.
He said the only returning senior to the varsity squad,
Curtis Wuestner, is also a player to watch,
"There are a couple of young kids with potential," Jen-
sen added. "Devon Gilman has made some nice strides
and Sean Gorman is a big, young freshman with a lot of
potential."
