Q: How did you get
started in law enforce-
ment?
A: l started as a reserve
officer with the Lacey PD
in 1991 and went to the
tribe with the intent to go
to the academy for a few
years but honestly, it's
good work and I enjoy it so
I stayed.
Q: What brought you
to Mason County?
A: My wife, Lisa, is from
Matlock, so that's how I
ended up out here.
Q: Did you play foot-
ball growing up?
A: No, I was kind of
scrawny then, there was no
way I could're played foot-
ball for Timberline.
Q- What brought you
to coaching football?
A: The irony is that I
take a lot of pictures for
the school and both my
sons were playing foot-
ball. I took pictures of
them and got to know the
coach. He said I should
be his assistant and I
promptly told him I'd nev-
er played. He convinced
me to do it and I've been
here ever since.
Q: Your sons played
football?
A: Yes, Brian, 21, and
John, 19, both played for
MMK. Football came back
in Brian's senior year. He
managed to break his leg
at the jamboree so it was
disappointing. John played
for three years. Ethan, 13,
briefly .played at Montesa-
no. We didn't have a junior
high team this year so I'm
hoping there's a team next
year.
Baseball association holds contest
Entries due December 6
By EMILY HANSON
The Mason County Youth Baseball As-
sociation is holding a contest to choose the
logo for this season's hats.
"This year, we have decided to do a uni-"
versal logo rather than each team choosing
a 3A team logo to go on the kids' hats," Bri-
anna Lepe said. "This will be our perma-
nent logo for years to come and represent
MCYBA on T-shirts, sweatshirts and win-
dow decals as well as the hats."
Children 17 and under can submit en-
tries into the contest between now and
Tuesday, Dec. 6.
"Our only request with the design is that
it incorporates the letters 'MC,'" Lepe said.
"We will vote upon the designs and choose a
winner on December 14."
Entries can be mailed to:
MCYBA, PO Box 1774, Shelton, WA
98584.
