SHS wrestler stays busy By EMILY HANSON Johnathen Dennis seems to have trouble standing still. During a brief interview, he fidgeted back and forth and played with the climb- ing rope in the wrestling room. Later, he said he likes to stay busy. Dennis, a senior on the Shelton wrestling eam, begins his fourth sea- son with the Highclimb- ers this winter at the 195-pound weight class. Last winter, he wrestled at 170 pounds. "I placed second at Johnathen districts and made it to Dennis regionals where I placed fifth," Dennis said. "Post- season-wise, my season didn't go well. but I went 28-11 for match- es." Dennis said he began wrestling because he was waiting for his friend to finish up practice and Wrestling looked like fun, so he tried. "I kept with it because I'm good at it," he added. As a sophomore, Dennis was an alternate at state'in the 160-pound weight class. He also plays football and rugby. "I enjoy competing.and these sports keep me busy," he said. Dennis enjoys wrestling so much, in fact, that he's hoping to wrestle in college, though he hasn't picked a specific school yet. "How I place at state will determine which schools look at me," Dennis said. "I want to pursue radiology." Dennis said several broken bones in his life led to him wanting to become a radiolo- gist. "They seem like their jobs are cool, just x- raying bones, and it's good money," he said. Sbience is one of Dennis' best subjects in school, where he has earned As and Bs so far this year. "I'm in chemistry and I've taken anato- my, biology, physics, animal science and earth science," Dennis said. "I also like his- tory." Outside of sports and classes, Dennis is also a member of DECA this year, though he hasn't chosen an event to compete in yet. "I took a marketing class and an entre- preneur class and the teacher said I should join DECA," Dennis said. When he's net in school or playing sports, Dennis said he likes to play video games, go frisbee golfing, go on hikes: basically do anything to keep busy. As parents might suspect, children between the ages of 10 and 14 years account for the most injuries, and boys accoun for nearly 60 percent of all cases.
