first-team defensive unit by three
Climber teammates, while se, ior

on the first-team offensiw: unit.
Joining Martin on the

Pavel and Zamzow, a repeater,
were named as down linemen,
while McGee was amo~g three

Martin's big season saw the

Some consider him a good bet
to make All-State honors this
year, the voting for which won't
be until after the state playoffs
have been concluded.
The fleet Shab caught 13
passes this year for 225 yards and
four touchdowns - despite
attracting double coverage most

Climbers in tackles, with 50 in
just his junior year. He also had
four pass defenses and was among
the team leaders in quarterback
sacks. Zamzow had 27 tackles and
played what Coach Jack Stark
describes as intelligent football
throughout the campaign, while
Jeff McGee anchored what proved
statistically to be the best
defensive secondary in recent
Climber history.
League champs North
Thurston led the balloting with
nine players on the first team,
while Timberline was next with
six - all on offense. Shelton, with
five, and Tumwater, with two,
were the only other teams with
more than one representative.

Women's
Attempts to organize a
women's basketball league in
Shelton have met with limited
success, reports one' of its
organizers.
"But we still hope to attract
some more women," said Patti
Neth. Ms. Neth explained that,
while a team of seven has been
assembled, it represents the group
first interested in promoting a
league - not recruits.
"Only two other womim have
expressed an interest," she said.
The league as envisioned would
operate during the winter months
and games would be arranged
weekly.
