Movies are
In December, Mason Youth
Service is sponsoring two
award-winning movies in the
Shelton High School Auditorium.
December 13 at 7 and 9 p.m.
"American Graffiti" will be
screened. This is the nostalgic
look at teen life back in the early
sixties. "Back to the world of
sock-hops, razzle-dazzle hot rods,
going steady, drive-in movies and
Wolf-Man Jack.'" Richard
Dreyfuss of "Jaws" stars with
Ronny Howard of "Happy Days."
December 27 at 7 and 9:15
p.m. Mason Youth Service
presents "The Sting" with that
incomparable team of Paul
Newman and Robert Redford.
The scene is the Chicago
underworld of the thirties, and
the plot unfolds a most
suspenseful matching of wits as
the heroes set out to pull "The
Big Con."
Admission to these movies is
$1.50.
Mason Youth Service hopes
that the fdms will have wide
support by the community,
especially high school age people.
This will make similar programs
possible in the future. Mason
Youth Service is located at
Second and Cedar. Phone
426-5823 for further information,
or welcomed suggestions.
Park crimes
are reported
Roger Allin, Superintendent
of Olympic National Park,
announced this week that 217
serious offenses were committed
in the park during the past
summer. The offenses included
such crimes as possession of hard
drugs, auto theft, burglaries,
fraud, grand larceny and petty
larceny.
Criminal investigations
conducted by park law
enforcement staff resulted in the
charges being brought against 20
persons, and the recovery of a
substantial portion of the stolen
articles.
Much of the property stolen
was from vehicles parked at
trailheads throughout the park,
said Allin. Although measures are
being taken to minimize such
thefts, backpackers sho,dd be
aware of the risk involved in
leaving valuables at trailheads.
