Hoodsport

The Squaxin Tribe senior
citizens were Thanksgiving dinner
guests of the Skokomish Indians
senior citizens dinner held at the
Skokomish Tribal Center last
week. The Thanksgiving dinner
complete with turkey, smoked
salmon and all the trimmings was
prepared and served to the 23
participants by seven staff
members of the Tribal Center and
the Skokomish Smoke Shop. The
smoked salmon was donated by
the SITE Fish Processing Plant.
Guests in attendance were Mr.
and Mrs. Westley Whitener, Mr.
and Mrs. Woodrow Johnson, Mrs.
Ethel Whitener and daughter
Mary, Percy Adams, Mrs. Hagen
Hawk, Randy Krise, Mr. and Mrs.
William Miller, Mr. and Mrs. John
Krise, and Myrtle Robertson, all
of Squaxin. Skokomish residents
present were Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Andrews and two grandchildren,
Elizabeth Byrd who came out
from the convalescent center,
Lela Pulsifer, Georgia Miller,
Emily Miller, Louisa Pulsifer, Ted
Hawk and Marie Simmons.
4-H'ers Conference
Ken Drake of Hoodsport and
Joan Robinson of Kamilcbe
attended the 1975 Washington
State 4-H Community Pride
Conference held in Yakima
November 22-23. The conference
theme was "Focus on Action."
4-I-I delegates from all counties of
the state were selected to attend
this training session.
The conference enabled youth
to develop an understanding of
the community development
process, learn how to develop a
Community Development/Com-
munity Pride Project, and build
confidence in youth to become
involved in their communities.
The 4-Wers met in small groups
of eight during their two days of
sessions. They got acquainted
with 4-H'ers from around the
state, shared ideas, worked
together, and gathered thoughts
to apply in their own counties.
Girl Scout Bazaar
Girl Scout Junior Troop 511
and Cadet Troop 119 of
Hoodsport will participate in the
Girl Scout Holiday Bazaar to be
held at the Shelton Memorial Hall
November 29 from noon to 6
p.m. The junior troop will be
featuring crafts they originated
from items collected on the
beach. The cadet troop is
preparing baked foods for the
bazaar.
Little Girl Joins Brother
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Allen of
Hoodsport have adopted a
six-month-old gift named Gale
Elizabeth. Brown-eyed, brunette
little Gale joins a big brother,
David, who is three years old.
Church Mission

Church in its annual Thanksgiving
time mission presented an

their Sunday evening service.
During the past 25 years, this
annual mission of the church has
made it poss le for missionary
and director of the Olympic
Peninsula Rural Mission, Elinor
Alleman, to continue her work in
the Forks, Queets, Hoh and
Ozette areas.
Katherine Bowers, a part-time
helper from Sequim, and Anne
Pierce of Port Angeles, who assists
with accordian music where
pianos are not available,
accompanied Elinor Alleman to
the Sunday evening program.
Canada Trip
Arline Baker made a four-day
trip to Vancouver, Canada, to
visit nephew Jim Baker and to let
him and his friends show her the
big city.
While there Arlie and Daryl
McClelland, formerly of
Hoodsport and now of Birch Bay,
joined them for dinner one
evening. The McClellands enjoy
their new home and extend a
hello to all their friends in
Hoodsport.
Highlights of Arline's trip was
coming home to fred she had
passed the state real estate exam
she had prepared so well for
before getting away for a
vacation.
Visiting Family
Gary and Pat Bearden and
two children have been up from
Springfield, Oregon for a visit
with his parents, Bob and Jean
Bearden. The Beardens were
Saturday evening dinner guests of
Mick and Donna Simmons.
Sunday they celebrated an early
Thanksgiving dinner with'his
parents.
Indian Conference
Vicki and Anne Pavel
attended the National Congress of
American Indians held during the
week Of November 10. The
conference covered congressional
Indian laws and national Indian
problems in relationship to
health, education, employment,
tribal government, reservation
development, and federal
administration and structure of
Indian affairs.
The Skokomish Tribe
sponsored three high school
students - Gregg Pavel, Beverley
Mestile and Mary Hemandez -
who attended conference
meetings on Thursday and Friday
morning and the Thursday night
pew wow.
Forest Service
departed from
Monday morning for
California to help bl
