pour of rain failed to dampen the
enthusiasm of bazaar-bent county
,esidents. Women, many fronl
other clubs, contributed most of
the afternoon attendance; the eve-
ning jambored proved an attrac-
tion for the whole family. The
school parking space soon was so
full that Dad had to drive up with
Mother and the children and go
down to the streets beh)w to park
the car.
"The success or- our bazaar was
eyond every expectation," com-
nented Mrs. Mabel V. Avey, presi-
dent of tim club. "The proceeds
will provide a wonderful nucleus

mittee, planned the affair and di-
rected the work of the various
committees. She attributed much
of its success to news articles pub-
lished by The Journal. the fine
cooperation of business firms, oth-
er county organizations and her
eo-workers in charge of the var-
ious booths, amusements and re-
freshments.
Husbands, too. received their
share of the credit.
Greeting the guests upon arrival
were Mrs. Avey, Mrs. McVay, Mrs.
Fred Sauer, vice-president of the
club, Mrs. Herbert Dickinson,
a
former president, and Mrs. C. E.
Hill, chairman of publicity and do-
nations.
Winners or" nylon hose. afternoon
door prizes, contributed by J. C.
Penney Co., were Mrs. Merle
Smith, Hpodsport; Mrs. Beulah
Worl, and Marie Kaare, Hoods-
port.
Many shoppers had afternoon
coffee served at the downstairs
refreshnent counter, an attract-
ive and busy spot all afternoon
and evening. Cheerfully serving
hot-dogs, salads, home-cooked hot
dishes, doughnuts and ice cream,
the following brought cash to the
clubhouse fund "the hard way,"
on the kitchen committee: Mrs.
Gladys Lockwood, Mrs. Virginia
Becker and Alma Hill, assisted by
Nancy and Joyce Lockwood and
Orpba Hill, loyal club daughters.
Well-arranged and inviting, ba-
zaar booths were almost taken by,
storm in the first rush of buying.
Committees were in charge as

Jamboree Features Fun
Mrs. Vera Linscott was clmir-
man in charge of the evening jam-
boree entertainment, which fea-
tured fun with a fish-pond, a
throw-ball conhest, bingo games in
the basement, fortune-teUing,
danciRg and awarding of prizes.
Mrs. Alice Hill and Mrs. Core
Paterson .presided at the fiahpond;
Dr. 1rein 1. McVay, and Mrs. Diane
Walker handed out prizes to suc-
cessful ball-throwers; Mrs. Helen
Andersen, with the volunteer as-
sistance of Dess Haines, Earl
Monroe and Wally Oliver, had
hail charge of the bingo games, a'
very popular attraction, With all
winners elig.ible for the turkey
sweepstakes. Winner of the
Thanksgiving bird, donated y the
Hoodsport Market Center, was
Molan Maxon of Union.
Mrs. Margaret Anderon told
very satisfactory fortunes in a
special booth, getting her largest
clientele from those who were
young enough to have the longest
futures ahead of them.
"Franlde" Radtke at the liano
played for dancing at intervals
during the evening.
An appreciative audience-cir-
cled the auditorium to watch the
dance exhibit, which was a high-
light of the jamboree entertain-
ment, and remained for announce-
ment of prize awards. Presented
by the Jack Moffett Dance Insti-
tute, the following talented young-
sters were aplauded for their
dance specialt-ies: The Price and
Boyen sisters, five-year-old Char-
lene Hansen, Jackte Halbert and
Eddie Mercer. rs. Earl Monroe
played piano' accompaniment for
the dance numbers and for her
small daughter, Ann, to sing "Un-
der the Willow Tree." A surprise
number on the program was Mrs.

Mrs. Datby Wins Radio
Mrs. Ethel Dalby of Union was
awarded the radio and record-
player donated by the Lumber-
men s Mercantile. Mrs. Dalby,
well-known Hood Canal artist, had
herself presented the club with a
watercolor autumn scene, pur-
chased by E. S. Avey in an auc-
tion conducted by /rs. Irvin I.
McVay. Mrs. Dalby's painting
will be framed for its buyer thru
the courtesy of Drees' Paint and
Art store in Olympia.

Co., was Mrs. Gordon Simmons,
Route 2, :Box 192, Shelton.
Eveniag door-prizes were award-
ed, the eectric clock donated by
Beckwith Jewelry Sotre, going to
Mrs. N. J. Grooms, Lilliwaup, and
the electric razor from Roy Me-
Conkey's pharmacy to Mark Ryan
of Lake Cushman. horns John-

nated by the Hood Canal Table

Hat-check girls for the evening
were Jane Aldrich and Nor,he
Knutson. Other daughters assist-
ing during the•bazaar were Caro-
lyn DeBard and Merrily Hill. Hus-
bands were almost too many for
special mention. Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Cornwall, community new-
comers, were active assistants.
Sunday afternoon found commit-'
tee members and their husbands in
work clothes at the gym, putting
things to rights and late, enjoying
a pot-luck dinner made' hilarious
through joy in he success of the
big commtmity project.
A hand-lettered list of business
firms helping the bazaar has been
prepared and is to occupy a prom-
inent place in the present club
room. The members declare, how-
ever, that if a name is not on the
list, it is only an error or because
the firm, through lack of time was
not contacted.

Cars Collide Tuesday
On Olympia Highway
A ear driven by Earl Dickinson
of Route 1, Shelton, and a state
car from Olympia, drive by
Frank M. Stocktma of Olympia,
were involved in an accident Tues-
day noon, doing damage to both
cars totaling around $200. The
accident occurred three miles
south of Shelton on the Olympia
highway.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl White of
PuyaHup are the parents of a
girl born Tuesday, November 26
in the hospital, Shelton.
