REALITY CHECK
In the past, some car buyers found that their new vehicles did
not live up to the miles-per-gallon estimate that appeared on the
sticker, largely because the old method for calculating the m.p.g.
estimates did not reflect real-world driving conditions. With
this in mind, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
has reworked the m.p.g, calculation formula for 2008.The new
estimate reflects the fact that many vehicles spend more than
half their time in stop-and-go traffic, in which fuel economy is
severely compromised. Higher speeds, the use of air-conditioning,
and aggressive driving, all of which lead to lower miles-per-gallon
figures, are also incorporated into the new m.p.g, calculations.
This will give buyers a better idea of expected fuel economy.
Here at TRANSMISSIONS PLUS AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES,
we know that fuel efficiency is on everybody's mind these days.
No matter what type of car you have, you'll achieve its maximum
efficiency if you ensure that the engine is tuned up and the wheels
are properly inflated and aligned. Bring your car in to our shop at
31 E.Vance Court for preventative maintenance or repairs on any
make or model, or call 360-426-9637 for an appointment. We are
your complete transmission, clutch, and auto care center. "'We like
our job.., you will toot."
HINT: Because fuel efficiency can be compro-[--------
mised by colder outdoor temperatures, the new rBeCarCarBAwareJ
EPA mileage estimates will takethis factor into .............
account when calculating vehicle mileage estimates for 2008.
