Little Skookum sets big bazaar
Members of the Little Skookum Community Club have
planned their fifth annual holiday craft bazaar. The
event is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Decem-
ber 1, at Little Skookum Hall, located at 3480 Lynch
Road, about 3.4 miles from Taylor Towne on Highway
101. Pictured, from left, are organizers Lisa Welander
and Sonya Asche, who display some of the many craft
items that will be available at the bazaar.
SOCK can fill your
Christmas stockings
The Shelton Christmas Bazaar
celebrates its 25th anniversary
this year. SOCK, which is also
known as Save Our County's Kids,
is the bazaar's sponsor again this
year and has special treats in
store for all who attend.
The bazaar will feature more
than 30 booths and be open on
Saturday and Sunday in the Ma-
son Transit Community Center,
601 West Franklin Street. This
is located right across the street
from Safeway. The bazaar will
run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on De-
cember 1 and from 11 a.m. to
p.m on December 2.
The Shelton High School choir
will provide strolling carolers be-
tween 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Then, to add another delicious
note to the festivities, SOCK is
hosting a holiday bake sale and
also offering hearty, hot food and
drinks from Ivy's Kitchen, just off
the main floor of the community
center.
For the young ones, and the
young at heart, Santa will be
there from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on
Saturday, with one-hour breaks
to feed the reindeer at 1 and 5
p.m., and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
on Sunday.
One way to generate some holi-
day spirit is to wander through
the Christmas bazaar before or
aider taking in Shelton's famous
Christmas Torchlight Parade.
The parade begins at 5 p.m. on
Saturday and ends near the Ma-
son Transit Community Center.
For more information about
the Christmas Bazaar, send an
e-mail to libbyCock.org or call
898-4937 or 432-0815.
"Little 'Miss Grace' has had a
rough start to her life. She was
found after being attacked
by a dog. She had one ear
partly bit off and her back leg
wounded. Even after surviv-
ing what must have been a ter-
rifying experience, she is a lov-
ing and friendly little girl. Her
wounds have healed and she is
now ready for a family to cher-
ish and protect her forever.
She MUST have a home with-
out dogs," a volunteer said.
Miss Grace is immunized, vet-
checked and ready for adop-
tion. Kitten Rescue of Mason
County can be reached in the
evenings at 426-2455.
Adopt-a-Pet
Adopt-a-Pet is a nonprofit volun-
teer group whose placement services,
kennels and spay-neuter assistance
program are financed through month-
ly garage sales held on the second
Saturday of the month at 210 Grove
Street. All dogs are vet-checked and
spayed or neutered.
S;helton's Relay i,ck off
The kickoff of the next running
of the Shelton Relay For Life will
be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thurs-
day, December 6, in the library of
Olympic Middle School at 800 East
K Street in Shelton.
People who want to honor can-
cer survivors are invited to join
the Shelton Relay For Life, sched-
uled for June 13-14 at Highclimb-
er Stadium on the campus of Shel-
ton High School at 3737 Shelton
Springs Road.
The Relay is an overnight com-
munity celebration at which indi-
viduals and teams camp out and
take turns walking around the
stadium to raise funds to fight can-
cer. At nightfall, participants light
hundreds of luminarias around
the track in a moving ceremony to
honor cancer survivors as well as
friends and family members lost to
the disease. Proceeds benefit the
American Cancer Society.
The kickoff event will feature
a number of guest speakers, a na-
tional recognition of 2007 Relay
events in Mason County, and an-
nouncement of next year's theme
and slogan. There will be a mini-
luminaria service and a registra-
tion bonus for returning and new
teams. Teams signing up at the
kickoff will receive $50 off their
registration fee. Returning teams
that bring a new team to the kick-
off will receive an additional $25
