Keeping seniors warm

Former Shelton resident Fran-
ces Nelson Johnson, M.D., recent-
ly married Michael King Schultz,
PhD. Their wedding took place
September 15 at Christ the King
Lutheran Church in Iowa City,
Iowa.
Wedding attendants included
maid of honor Hannah Johnson
of Iowa City, bridesmaid Jaclyn
Schultz of Knoxville, Tennessee,
and best man Tim Gee, also of
Knoxville.
The bride is the daughter of
the late Laurel V. Nelson and the
late Lucille V. Nelson, of Shelton.
She is a cardiologist specializing
in the treatment of heart fail-
ure, including by means of heart
transplantation.
The groom is the son of Jane
M. Schultz and the late Paul H.
Schultz Jr. of Chippewa Falls,
Wisconsin. He is a research sci-
entist working in nuclear imag-
ing and cancer therapy.
The newlyweds live in Iowa
City. They work in the hospital
and clinics of the University of
Iowa.

Are you a girl or boy wanting
to learn to sew or maybe 'already
have sewing experience? If so, Ma-
son County 4-H invites youth ages
9 years and older to join 4-H mem-
bers in a six-week sewing class at
the Mason County Fairgrounds.
The class will begin on Sunday,
January 20, and meet every other
Sunday with the exception of the
last class, which will be on Sat-
urday, March 29. Instruction will
be from 1 to 4 p.m. and there is no
charge other than fbr project ma-
terials.
Young people not already in 4-H
will have the opportunity to join a
4-H club or just participate for the
six-week period. Participants will
learn how to construct and sew a
wearable garment and are invited
to help stage a fashion show sched-
uled at the end.
Also planned is a possible field
trip to the upcoming Sewing Expo
at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. Free
patterns and fabric will be avail-
able for participants to choose or
they may purchase their own if
they wish.

Nathaniel Cole set out to collect
food for families in need this holi-
day season for his senior project.
Cole, a full-time Running Start
student at Olympic College, decid-
ed to ramp up the effort by involv-
ing his neighbors at Island Lake
Manor and placing a collection bin
at his place of work, the Fred Mey-
er store. All this was part of his
plan to help families this Thanks-
giving.
